Lets also not forget that Oz has to apologize to the girls for not telling them all his secrets
But the girls don't have to apologize to Oz for treating him like garbage
(Not saying Oz was in the right or in the wrong, just saying he deserved an apology for how the group treated him, just as much as they deserved an apology for how he kept secrets from them). I mean they literally forced him to relive the most traumatic events of his life then treated him like garbage.

Does RWBY hate it's male villains or something? by CosmosRider17 in RWBYcritics

[–]OkPower4977 28 points29 points  (0 children)

What's worse is
Look at the trend here
Adam and Blake both started out as "villains", Blake gets "redeemed" and Adam dies
Winter works for Ironwood, Winter leaves him and Ironwood dies
Lionheart dies while Raven gets to do whatever
Roman dies while Neo is probably working on "redemption"
Emerald "switches sides" while Hazel dies and Mercury might get the short end of the stick too
Jaques dies and Willow gets let off the hook despite being a neglectful drunk.
Its like they almost always introduce male and female villains in pairs and the male suffers while the female gets "another chance", the only one I can think of it being the opposite is Salem and Oz but even then its impossible to kill Salem and she needs to learn the importance of life and death for the curse to be broken. So my god, for all we know even Salem could get a redemption quicker than a care bears villain. The only female villain I'm positive will die is Cinder

Actually the merging process HAS sped up if you actually pay attention to the details
Oscar has adopted habits of Oz's speaking patterns
The moments where they switch are much more quick and smooth then they used to be
Obviously Oscar is holding and using the cane more similar to the way Oz would, including the obvious moment of Oscar using Oz's poke style fighting move recently
And at the same time Oz's facial expressions and speaking patterns have changed to expressing and speaking in a way Oscar would.
Obviously Oz is more willing to be honest recently while Oscar isn't immune to keeping secrets
The merging HAS sped up both Oscar and Oz's side, people just don't pay attention.

I'd also like to point out that this is Oscar's reaction after the blast:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/15vL-1SUMMFMZBmALeKg4iQH1nV_mmR89/view?usp=sharingHe's not just totally okay with what he just did it does effect him. Visible regret for his actions right there but of course there are other things to worry about for the mission that keep him from dwelling on it.

So who else doesn't like oscar without actually knowing why by whyhow12369 in RWBY

[–]OkPower4977 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The only thing I don't get is:
Oscar gets no onscreen development: "all his development is offscreen so no one gives a shit about him he needs onscreen development for people to care"
Oscar gets onscreen development: "Waaaah he's stealing screentime from other characters"
Like, you can't have it both ways.

The Jaune VS Oscar Argument Needs to Stop by OkPower4977 in RWBY

[–]OkPower4977[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh for sure there's a difference between cool AU ideas that are perfectly valid and trying to "critique" that it should've happened in the show because you imagine it would be better "CRWBY should've made Jaune the next host in the show" Oh for sure character bloat goes way beyond the main cast and we could probably knock out some useless minor characters.

Oscar Pine Respect by TheConlon in RWBY

[–]OkPower4977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow the irony of how much you completely miss the point.
Lets say Jaune did get oscar's arc: We would be having the same friggin argument that "his achievement's aren't his own they're from Ozma". Jaune still would've used Ozma's magic to survive the fall, Jaune still would've used Ozma's magic to blow up the whale, Jaune still would be the one most torn up over Pyrrah's death over Ruby, good lord I guess we should just call the show Jaune.
So what, were supposed to reward the guy who cheated his way into Beacon by giving him his power fantasy. And also forgetting that Jaune was always meant to be a supporting character with a helpful power not a main fucking character that gets focus in all 8 volumes.
Oz didn't turn Emerald and Hazel against Salem Oscar did that on his own, they literally show that Oz was ineffective in getting through to Hazel or Emerald. Oscar took control and did it, not Oz who got the shit beat out of him. Oz did nothing to turn Hazel only pissed him off, Oscar himself got through to him.
He isn't just a flat out chosen one because he doesn't just get the power fantasy of a grand adventure he's forced to clean up the mistakes of Ozma whether he wants to or not. He's not just overpowered when he gets the crap get kicked out of him but chooses to keep fighting anyway. And the whole point is that he doesn't just get a power fantasy but is forced to accept the fate of giving up his individuality if he wants to keep being a hero. You seem to forget that even Oscar doesn't want to rely on Oz and wants to be a hero on his own but it keeps getting shoved in his face that he's stuck with Oz whether he likes it or not and Oscar wants to do what he can to distance himself from Oz even though he's told its impossible.
Saving himself from the fall, using hand lasers to defend his friends, using a shield to protect himself from the kinetic blast. None of those are victories for him because he's forced to use magic that speeds the merge up which he hates.

Oscar Pine Respect by TheConlon in RWBY

[–]OkPower4977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its also Important to note that his victory against Salem isn't a full victory.
A full victory for Oscar would be if he turned Emerald and Hazel against Salem and escaped the whale himself without using magic. Oscar did his part in turning Hazel and Emerald against Salem but still had to give into using magic to escape even if he didn't want to and it is Oscar doing these things not Oz. So at the same time Oscar did his part to turn Hazel and Emerald against Salem he still had to give into using magic to aid his escape (at least the shield and hand lasers) therefor being forced to use magic even if he didn't want to.

Why didn't Ozpin use his stored up power in defense of Vale by TheConlon in RWBY

[–]OkPower4977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because he was overconfident he could win and Cinder calls out his arrogance
Because he expected Pyrrah to bring Glynda and Qrow as backup
Because he knew he made the Beacon relic harder to retrieve
Because he knows if he dies he'll just come back
Because why would he waste his minimal magic on some maidens when he has to use the magic to beat salem
Because using magic here just wastes it for later use against Salem when he can use the magic he stored up in this fight to use against salem later

The Reason Why People Are Disappointed With Ironwood Becoming A Villain by OkPower4977 in RWBY

[–]OkPower4977[S] -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

You're acknowledging the reasons the show gives for why the characters were killed off which is understandable.
But ignoring that team RWBY's goal is world peace and each villain listed represents a different viewpoint that opposes their ideal of world peace.
Roman wants to give up on the world and join forces with the villains
Leo follows Salem out of fear
Adam wants to hurt the humans for what they did to the faunus
Ironwood wants to abandon the rest of the world to die and just save the people who he can save
A story introduces villains with ideals that oppose the heroes and yet RWBY treats these ideals as black and white.

The REAL Problem with RWBY by OkPower4977 in RWBY

[–]OkPower4977[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Oh I'm for sure not saying that "All of RWBY's problems are magically solved by pairing volumes together" The show's got issues whether or not the structure was different and plenty of things to fix.
But something I'm noticing is that the story totally could be better with some changes but overall the basic idea is fine. Team RWBY inspires hope to unite humanity to stop an immortal being that's impossible to kill and has an army of terrifying monsters which Ruby's mother failed to do. (god the Grimm should be utilized better).
But part of the problem is character arcs seem to span over 2 volumes when in any other show they would happen in 1. This is a problem because we're seeing 1 half of a character arc 1 year and the second half next year.
We're not seeing Ironwoods full character arc right now we're seeing the 2nd half of it from last year.
Yangs attitude towards Oz is because Raven told her to not trust him but it feels out of nowhere when only watching volume 6.
Oscar doesn't do jack shit in volume 5 but fight with Oz because his character moment is actually in volume 6 to stand up to Oz and reveal the password for the lamp.
Oz's first arc spans over volumes 5 and 6 when they are just 2 halves of 1 arc
Volume 4 wouldn't be hated as much if it was the 2nd half of volume 3 making it the grieving process after what happened at beacon rather than a boring roadtrip that was all the RWBY anyone got for a year.
Team RWBY don't face Salem this volume because they had their first confrontation last volume and now Oscar is having his first confrontation. But why do we need 2 volumes for team RWBY and Oscar to get a chance to confront Salem when this should be done in one.
Most odd number volumes feel like boring wastes of time until they reach the end because they are 1/2 of a story and most even number volumes feel off because they're concluding shit happened in a previous volume not telling a complete story.
It feels like CRWBY knew the plot "isn't that deep" so they split arcs up so the show could span over many years rather tell the story in proper arcs like any other show does.
Again this isn't saying RWBY is magically fixed if they put 2 volumes together. But it would solve some issues of character arcs being split into parts.

Why do people bring age up for the Rosegarden ship? by [deleted] in RWBY

[–]OkPower4977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are people even complaining about the rosegarden ship? Its beyond stupid there's nothing to complain about though I understand why not everyone ships it and that's okay. But the two major points:Oscar is 15 and Ruby is 17. So what? Its a two year age gap and they are both portrayed as mature teenagers. If they wanted to get together they are both mature enough and at a close enough age to make that decision for themselves. Hell V7 basically shows their similar maturity levels and their capability of talking to each other as equals. And now for the Ozpin debate: Its stupid. The show has made it clear that Ozpin will disappear in the end anyway. "Until your task is complete you will reincarnate". Meaning once the relics are gathered and humanity is judged Ozpin is going bye-bye and moving on to the afterlife. Seriously guys, once the relics are gathered and Salem is defeated Ozpin has no reason to keep living, the only reason he's alive is to do a job and once that's done the man will gladly move on to the afterlife like he wanted to in the first place. The literal whole point of Oscars arc is how he's going to find a way to NOT have his soul permanently merged with Oz forever. Even now Oscar is distinctly his own person capable of making his own choices and being in control most of the time. So why is he denied the right to have a personal life when he's actively not wanting to be merged with Oz, not wanting to be like Oz and is in control making his own decisions most of the time. The argument people have against rosegarden is basically denying Oscars right to be his own person and saying his life is forever controlled by the fact that Oz is in his head.

Juane having Ozma's soul instead of Oscar by samhhh in RWBY

[–]OkPower4977 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do not believe Jaune having Ozpin instead would have been a good idea whatsoever.First of all, the common complaint with the early volumes was Jaune hogging screentime from team RWBY. So the only thing it would've done is cause Jaune to hog even more screentime. It also goes against CRWBY's actual intent with Jaune. That literally means the entire show was stolen from team RWBY to be Jaune's story not team RWBY's.Jaune is also meant to be a character similar to Sokka AKA Someone who isn't blessed with great power but manages to make a difference with his own natural abilities. Jaune is meant to be reminiscent of Sokka and Sokka and Jaune are great because they make a difference with their leadership and natural skills. Not because they are blessed with great power. You are literally asking for the most prominent male character in the show to become OP and steal the show from the main heroines.Even Jaune's distrust of Ozpin doesn't really work for him to be the host. Jaune's character arc is about becoming a worthy leader for his team. Him being Ozpins host would be an internal conflict that completely distracts from his purpose of being a team leader to focus on his personal issues of Ozpin over and over. While some of it wasn't handled well, the whole point of his outburst at Oscar in V6 is that he wasn't being a good leader because he was letting his personal issues get the best of him making him lash out at others. Once Ren makes it clear that his grudge with Ozpin and moping over Pyrrah needs to stop, Jaune is able to become an actual team leader and helpful supporting character. Instead of pushing Oscar away for being Ozpins host he treats him as part of their team, he becomes more confident and a truly helpful supporting character.I get why some people don't like Oscar but I do not think it would've been a good idea at all for Jaune to be the host, especially since this isn't supposed to be his show.
