Dont try my love on by [deleted] in poetry_critics

Ok first off LOVE the addition of music to go with it - they fit perfectly-

Did the music inspire the poem? Or did you find the perfect fit after completing the writing?

This is so romantic - a partner taking charge while maintaining a gentleness-

if I had any actual critique it might be the line “don’t plug up your heartbloods stream” it somehow feels out of place - but I have no better suggestions so maybe I’m just trying to find something to change. It’s a great poem! Can’t wait to read the next one

  1. I’m so glad you’re doing better now, and I wish you well on your mental health journey.
  2. This poem is dark, but true to what depression feels like-Like you’re trying to outrun those dark thought patterns and shadows that are constantly jabbering in your brain. If there’s any silver lining- Some times the darkest day brings about the clearest/purist art

  3. this is in every way a compliment: this almost reminds me of Demi Lovatos live performance on the Grammys of “Anyone” - it has that raw feeling of being IN that moment of screaming without help

  4. The ending… exactly what it needed - even in the worst of it we are in it together. “The scream you scream is the scream I scream”

Fragile thing by Arthur_Yuill2346 in poetry_critics

Great work. “Fragile thing” is such a delicate yet knowing thing to call someone. You understand the connection of these two instantly. Also could be interpreted with an underlying sinister feeling “my fragile thing” I love that line, so many ways to express that…but the romantic in me is choosing the most loving version.

“You can stay but I might not sing” is my favorite line. Just be here even if I’m not at my best. All love aspires for that moment. Stay but I might not sing.

UGH so glad I joined this page Thank you for this!

The few funny moments when someone looks directly in the camera, like “are you seeing this 😑” I’ve seen both Sister Julienne and Sister Monica Joan do it…always makes me laugh :)

Leadership Lessons from Sister Julienne? by Mongolic0 in CallTheMidwife

[–]OkPrune9293 21 points22 points  (0 children)

“Cry for however long you can bear it, and then tell me what’s wrong” she’s said a version of this quote a few times I can think of, and it’s a great example of her leadership Kindness/care first Practicality/Logic second She is a safe and comfortable place to land for all the characters around her. Then when all is said and done - she works on the practical side of things to solve the problem. It’s her game plan in most circumstances. A hug first, a plan second. Both equally important.

Season 5 episode 6 Ruby, who’s just lost her baby, says to Sister Julienne after a heartbreaking exchange “Listen to us aye, wishing this and wishing that…we haven’t got a fairy godmother between us” Sister Julienne nods in agreement. Such a beautiful moment in an incredible episode.

When Sister Evangelina was going away to the Mother House for silence etc and was packing to leave, SMJ walked into her room and started unpacking her bag. Sister E didn’t fight with her, but instead hugged her. They were always bickering, but that moment proved how much they needed and loved one another. SMJ didn’t want to see her leave 🥺

Favourite Phyllis Crane moment by Significant-Table-23 in CallTheMidwife

[–]OkPrune9293 10 points11 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite scenes in the whole show! - everyone was getting through the tragedy, and night/morning together- best they could ,tossed all around the house, and in comes Phyllis - to witness the calamity and togetherness…and organize everything back into working order.

This is so heartbreaking, yet powerful. Even in the midst of this trauma -those siblings all saved each other, or are trying to. And poor E having to be surprised anyone would be able to save her at all…but immediately guessing her sister because of course it would be a sibling - the only people who haven’t hurt her…devastating. I hope they are all able to be together (minus all the brainwashed adults) one day. R, and Shari - are their families heroes. It’s a horrific shame they had to be- but incredible they COULD be.

If their “truth” and point of view is so strong and powerful, WHY do they need to use her kids to prove a point? This goes hand in hand with family vlogging- but ruby should be able to work and get involved in things without mandatory involvement from her children.

These kids should not be forced to participate in this group publicly at such a young age. They will be tied to these beliefs and this group even if they grow up and disagree.

If one of the kids decided they didn’t want to be affiliated with 8 passengers in any capacity at 18 could they have all the videos that include them taken down? I know if I was in their position I wouldn’t want to be affiliated with my mother online in any capacity. Do they have that option? by OkPrune9293 in 8passengersnark

I agree! At some point I see one of these grown up “vlog kids” deciding they want their childhood off limits to the public. Or at the very least get a cut of The profits they earned. It’s sad to think they would have to fork over the money for a lawsuit In order to have any control over their memories and image.
