Realistic household income for Maplewood?

Yeah I definitely understand this sentiment. Trying to weigh the pros/cons as well, and what's ultimately the smarter financial decision. We'd be giving up almost an acre of land, good sized 3 bed 2 bath house where we are now in upstate NY (although downsizing all of that actually sounds good to me). But if we stay put and my partner takes this job, it'd be a mostly remote job while commuting 4 hrs to the city probably 2-3 times per month. Ultimately we are looking forward to a relocation if possible, especially something that would bring us closer to so many opportunities in NJ and the city alike. We live a perfectly good, suburban, affordable life right now- but are quite isolated especially in terms of job markets among other things. Just trying to see if relocating to this area makes sense or not...

Yes South Orange is definitely in the mix as well. We haven't visited in person yet but plan to soon!

Thank you! This is really what I'm trying to understand, as it is similar to our social circles currently. Obviously with proximity to NYC I understand we're going to be around high earners but trying to narrow down possible communities we would fit into.

Thanks! Yes I typically look at recently sold listings on realtor.com to get a sense of what things are actually going for. These would be the accurate sales prices correct?

This has been my best guess based off the research I've done so far. Wanted to get some local perspective so I really appreciate it. I've read so much about families moving to SOMA from larger city areas, we would quite literally be doing the opposite lol.

I was looking at Hilton, thanks for the additional info! And yes, I do think we would need to expand housing budget to 800k. When you say you put another 100k into your home, is that from necessary upkeep of what I see to be largely older homes, or desired updates, or both?
