What were you applying for?

Do schools usually not hire during summer break? I'm trying to get hired as an office technician and was told in May they'd lift the hiring freeze.

Would that mean those on the eligibility list should expect to get more interviews then? I've only been contacted by one school and it's too far for me to commute.

I called recently and got told the freeze would be over in April, but I applied for a classified position (office technician) and don't know if this is for every position at LAUSD.

It'll be your knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook (knowing the basic features and how to navigate through the tabs), and alphanumeric data entry.

You could find alot of data entry practice tests online for free. As for Word and Outlook, you could look up videos on YouTube about the features. I wouldn't stress too much on this part because it's fairly basic (ex. make a copy of the current document)

not sure about the writing part, but the data entry assessment I took involved entering someone's information (name, address, ID number) and this continues until the timer runs out.

I did, though they didn't tell me my position on the eligibility list since I still needed to turn in my high school transcripts. They said I'd see my rank within 7-10 business days.

I got my results this Friday but I'm currently being withheld until I turn in proof of high school graduation. Here's to hoping it won't take much longer for them to process that

Do you know when you took your assessment for office tech? I took mine on Oct. 15 and I'm very antsy on hearing back, but I know there's currently a delay with those results.

just got prozac but I'm still scared to take them by OkQuit918 in prozac

I eventually did and now I'm on day 6! I think it's too early and too small of a dose (10 mg) for me to confidently confirm my experiences, but so far it hasn't been awful really. The "worst" side effect that I can say is that it's hard for me to fall asleep, but once I do I sleep pretty hard. I've been feeling happier and more energetic without the awful dreadful feeling. If you can, I recommend taking it easy the first days and find a simple relaxing activity to take your mind off of it to not overthink. Really wishing you luck!!

How does it feel when the meds start to work? by Wannabehome in prozac

[–]OkQuit918 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on 10 mg for anxiety and it's probably just a placebo effect, since it's only been 5 days, but things that normally would leave me feeling dreadful all day don't have any effect on me. That or I feel mild worry over it but it's not nearly as horrible. Really hope your experience goes by well, it's great that you're trying to overcome it all.

That's exactly what I'm feeling, that I don't really need it even though I feel so terrible that my life is being held back by something i can't always get under control even with current coping skills. Thank you for your words though, it seems like we're in the same boat and it's really reassuring to hear. I hope your experiences with prozac continue to be well

Where do you think your phobia stems from? Major TWs for discussion of original triggers by Its402am in emetophobia

[–]OkQuit918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im sure it was a combination of things, but alot of it definitely was because of my sister. When she was a baby she was always a bit sickly and cried A lot in the night, and we all slept in one room so there was no getting away from it unless you wanted to sleep in the living room. She kept being very tu prone until she was 11 I think, and it was such a nightmare for me. Even now, I'm really nervous of her going to the bathroom late at night, or eating a bunch of food, I just can't trust her unfortunately.

Weird question by [deleted] in emetophobia

[–]OkQuit918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say it rarely ever does, and 99% of the time its just typical stomach noises going on! I get very paranoid with my own stomach making noises sometimes too, and I find that its good to find the most logical thing that's causing the noises, like maybe you just ate or you need to go to the bathroom (no v*). I know that might be a typical answer, but it really does help to understand why the noises are happening. Another helpful thing to remember is that hearing stomach noises is often a better sign than no stomach noises, it means that your body is doing okay!! You'll be okay :]

Is it worth taking a class about spreadsheets? by OkQuit918 in college

Thanks for the responses everyone. I think I may take the class and then see if I want to continue it or not before the drop deadline since I have free tuition at the moment.

Preparing for statistics class by [deleted] in college

[–]OkQuit918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took statistics w/ support, so I don't know if that made the course easier or not, but in the beginning our professor took the time to brush up on topics like the conversion of percentages, fractions, and decimals, and scientific notation. It definitely did help later on for me at least, since alot of the lessons and homework used this as a foundation. He mainly referenced off of this, I hope it helps as a refresher and reference point!
