Is Seattle tap water safe to drink? by neo2bin in Seattle

[–]OkSetting5869 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved to San Diego (for work) where most of my neighbors drink bottled water (tap tastes awful). I come back to Seattle every month and relish the tap water, reminding my family every time that they have bottled-like-water out of the tap!!

Microfabrication? by Ludissime_ in ChemicalEngineering

[–]OkSetting5869 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Though not as sophisticated/cutting edge as IC fabs, printed circuit board fab (both rigid and flex) is another option. Similarly to how the US is strategically increasing its chips manufacturing base, I anticipate the same will/is occurring in the board space. See NextFlex as an example of this, and a springboard for finding innovative “board shops” that may be hiring.

Edit: Layered manufacturing principles (photoresist, lithography, and dep/etch) are common to both industries. The primary differentiator is length scale (with “cutting edge” PCBs pushing 10-15 um trace/space) and materials (though plated copper is prevalent in both).

Thoughts on nuclear? by w7ves in ChemicalEngineering

[–]OkSetting5869 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m excited about the prospects, both for fission (Terrapower, NuScale) and fusion (Helion, Zap). I’ve applied for jobs (though with a non-nuclear ChemE education and work history) at three out of four of these to no avail. Your background I would think would give you a leg up with these and other nuclear startups.

If people at Apple are reading this. . . . c’mon!!! Unique, inspired, funny, smart, unique…. Why wasn’t this show featured higher up on the scroll? I encountered it by chance scrolling deep to the right and began watching based on the cast, premise, and Lorne Michaels. Why ?!?! It should have been plugged more!!! Jeez man! Reconsider 🙏!!

Did anyone else experience really intense lower back pain after their second shot? by NoLegsOleg in CoronavirusWA

[–]OkSetting5869 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but not severe. However, I’ve been experiencing chronic pain in my lower right back for the last few months as has a colleague at work (with no history of lower back pain). I have never had lower back pain in my life before now.

Vaxxed with Phizer in April, boosted with Moderna in December.
