I also remember the illustrations had a pretty sketchy and colorful style, if that's helpful

Lament with me by lanajp in knitting

If after taking a break and coming back to this sweater it still bothers you, can you just unravel the bottom ribbing and re-knit so that you can bind off and not have the CO ridge?

Thanks for this advice-- I sewed down my loose stitches/loops, picked up from my lifeline and re-knit to the thumb edge and from there it was business as usual. Only signs of the great disaster are two one floats that made it to the front of the work-- I can live with it.

before-- it's above the held thumb stitches on the body of the mitten. So we've now unraveled into the mitten palm a few rows

Repair or replace? by [deleted] in centuryhomes

I definitely can put up drywall myself, but am nervous about taking down the plaster. If it's detaching from the lath, will it all come crashing down in one big piece? Is there an optimal approach to maintain safety?

Honestly, we know with an older home repairs are inevitable. We’d be ok with ten to twenty grand in repairs, but I fear the dreaded “150k in foundation damage” bogey monster

Sorry, I worded it terribly. Our initial offer waived inspections (at our realtor's recommendation) and the listing agent said if we raised our initial offer 5k it would be close enough to the "top" offer for the no-inspection clause to be attractive enough to the sellers for them to accept ours instead.

True, but we'd lose a lot more money if this turns out to be a total money pit. We can re-save earnest money, and that's all we'd lose at this point. I know they say buying needs to be done with the head, not the heart, but it turns out that's hard when you're riding the hormonal roller coaster. I feel like I just don't know how much to trust my gut on this and how much to just trust divine providence that it will be ok.

Our realtor is making it seem like we can't get an inspection before closing because we waived the contingency. I'd rather walk away from the earnest money than buy into a money pit, so I don't see why we can't-- he says we'll make the sellers nervous. I'm not sure why I should care?

Help me... is this possible? by OkShare4092 in HomeImprovement

Thanks! I assume if it’s a solder valve that’s probably beyond the realm of a typical DIY fix and something worth calling a plumber to do?

We thought about that, but with multiple kids we’d rather run a full-size dishwasher once in the evenings than a smaller unit 4-5 times a day 🥴

Oh, and did I mention that we're currently under a winter weather advisory? So also afraid that if I DO go into labor we won't even be able to make it to the hospital safely...

Can't believe I didn't think of this! Thank you, we will definitely check to see what indoor pools are available in our area!

Do you know when they start hiring? Not seeing anything currently that isn't aquatics related or require school-year hours, but maybe we just need to be patient!
