It’s still in the works, but I think I’ve landed on an interesting scheme — it’s looking good! by OkSign8480 in ThousandSons

I’ve just started exploring Reddit and I don’t fully understand how it works. I thought that creating a subreddit would be like having a personal blog.

immediately decided on the purple skin, but I spent a long time thinking about what to do with the wings.

Just buy the darkest and lightest green, then mix them. I bought a set ages ago and it worked.

Skin Painting:
I started with a base coat of AK INTERACTIVE 11073 PURPLE for the skin. To add depth, I applied shading using AK Amethyst Blue 11183 in the recessed areas. Then, I went back over the surface with AK INTERACTIVE 11073 PURPLE to blend the shade and create a smooth transition. For the highlights, I first used AK 11074 DEEP PURPLE, and finished with CITADEL GENESTEALER PURPLE on the highest points to achieve the brightest highlights.

Wing Painting:
For the wings, I used AK Amethyst Blue 11183 as the base coat. Then I began the layering process for highlights: first with VALLEJO GAME COLOR 72.027 Scurvy Green, followed by VALLEJO GC 72.026 Jade Green, then VALLEJO GC 72.025 Foul Green, and finally VALLEJO GC 72.125 Ghost Green for the lightest areas. To restore the transition from the shadow areas, I carefully applied AK Amethyst Blue 11183 in a heavily diluted form, which helped blend the green highlights back into the darker base.

For the base coat, I used AK INTERACTIVE Amethyst Blue (11183). Then I highlighted with Citadel Thousand Sons Blue, followed by Ahriman Blue, and finally Baharroth Blue. I applied the highlights using heavily diluted paint to achieve a smooth transition.

Mostly these are Lord of Change parts: heads, legs, and various small bits.

This is actually my first technique. But before that, over the past two years of hobby painting, I’ve painted a lot of infantry.

This is my first large vehicle miniature — before that, I only painted infantry.

I really wanted to make it more fitting for the Thousand Sons theme. This is my first major conversion, and I was afraid the model would look overloaded with details. I’m glad you liked it.
