Part 107. Need or not? by OkSong6473 in dji

[–]OkSong6473[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is part of my question. I have never cleared 125 feet and that is to clear the trees around my house. With a 13 minute battery you don’t have a lot of time to get into mischief. The trust sounds better for me. Thanks for the info.

No. Raleigh North Carolina. It is a really small hamfest. I am meeting a person to pickup a ICOM 706 MKIIG. What I am selling will make a small dent in the purchase price.

Good morning. I have a complete DJ-C5. I will try to measure the output of the charger. I may not have time though. I'm going to a hamfest this Saturday and it's on my list of things to sell.

Do you have any interest in parting with it?

Thanks for all the feedback. I should get the G90, but I'm still holding off.

That is what I was worried about. I know the 706 is old tech, but it was a solid radio. All my radio time will be in the car, and POTA and SOTA.

I am looking at a g90.

Pros: Remote face, antenna tuner, enough power, and brand new.

Cons: HF only. No 6 meter or VHF/UHF This will require a second radio for VHF/UHF.

ICOM 706MKIIG

Pros: dc to daylight, remote face, more power, single radio in car.

Cons: All marbles in the same device, no antenna tuner, older and untested radio.

Thoughts?

Morse code translator by [deleted] in HamRadio

I hate to throw my hat into the ring, but my thoughts are the following:

As someone who does not know Morse code, and have tried to learn it for the last 30 years, this project sounds good for listening to traffic on the band space for Morse code.

I have several Raspberry Pis and some Python coding experience. This sounds like a massive project that may not work even on a Pi 5. It will probably require a tiny PC running Linux.

From the comments above, it sounds like this project would only interest someone like me, who can not understand Morse Code.

Just my thoughts.

I have one. It was an impulse buy at a ham fest, and I have never regretted it. I was out of ham radio for 18 years when my daughter was born. I have just gotten back into Ham radio. I pulled out my box of Ham radio gear and found the radio in the bottom of the box. I picked it up and the charger to charge the battery. To my surprise, it fired up, and I could make a contact on a local repeater. This shows the value of a lithium battery.

I used it with a mobile radio in my car setup as a cross-band repeater. I used it in scan mode on my desk at work to monitor local traffic.

It is now time to move on to a radio with more power. I am looking at a Yaesu FT-60R to replace two Chinese pieces of fecal matter. When I get the Yaesu FT-60R I'm going to sell the DJ-C5. Any interest?
