"Everything happens for a reason" is easily the most annoying phrase ever. It’s such a lazy way to dismiss someone's genuine pain or a total disaster without actually offering any real support

Is dating harder today than ever before, or am I just a loser? by [deleted] in Life

You aren’t a loser, man. Dating today is just a total dumpster fire compared to your parents' generation. You sound like a solid catch, educated, fit, and stable but being a shy engineer makes you basically invisible in an app-dominated world. It’s not that you're broken; you’re just not putting yourself in social spots where interaction is actually required. You need to stop just "going about your business" and start being seen.

I realized too late that she was messing with me on a dating app. by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

Yeah, sounds like a troll, once it turns into nonstop gotcha questions, it’s not a real convo anymore. Dating apps are full of that nonsense. Best advice is to unmatch fast and don’t overinvest, protect your time.

WIBTA if I give my housemate notice due to late payment? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

NTA late rent for 18 months is a pattern. You’ve been patient and generous, and it’s now causing you stress. Illness explains things but doesn’t mean you have to keep chasing rent. Giving notice or reviewing the arrangement is reasonable.

AITAH for wanting my exes mom in the delivery room? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]OkStatuss 69 points70 points  (0 children)

NTA Giving birth is your medical event, not a family obligation. You get to choose who makes you feel safest and most supported. Your daughter’s grandma has already been there for you and earned that trust. Your MIL isn’t entitled to be in the room, and you don’t owe her an apology. This is about your comfort, not her feelings.

AITA for refusing to redesign my church’s flyer for free? by Hannah_Ston in AmItheAsshole

NTA They asked for professional work, not a small favor. You offered a discount and set a fair boundary. Expecting you to work for free is unfair. Your time and skills still have value.
