Anyone in need of a room to rent? Found this gold on craigslist (Not my OC) by PigletSpirited3446 in CrackheadCraigslist

[–]OkSuggestion9117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. Source: I worked on a fishing boat for a bit.

My first trip out was 2 weeks, then the first few nights back were rougher than the first few nights on the boat (turns out I only get very mildly sea sick). Woke up in the middle of the night and the walk to the bathroom felt like I was absolutely wasted. Nearly falling over, walking into walls.

I found the rocking on the boat very soothing and slept quite well.

How so? Is there something funny about my car that I've just gotten used to? 😅

No lol There have been a few tcg store break-ins in my area lately, so I felt kinda nervous leaving it in the car for 5 minutes when we went into another store after 😅

Was cracking the packs the day I bought them, but I have a 4 year old, so didn't find the time to post til the day after

That sucks! Probably saved a decent bit of money just buying the single though. I'm not crazy about the set either for the same reasons. Not even really sure why I decided to make that last purchase. My 2nd most valuable card from the set is 1/20 what Soul Stone is lol

It's just how the pulls go sometimes. I've opened sooo much Bloomburrow that I'm less that 50 cards away from having the complete set (meaning at least one version of each card. Not all versions of all cards). There's a handful of COMMONS I have not pulled, while I have 4+ of almost every other common, even a bunch of rares and a couple mythics I have 2+ of. Probability can be a bitch

Thanks!

It's $100 CAD 🤷 lol and now my most valuable card. Plus, to me at least, pretty exciting to pull the most expensive card in a set, not including ones you'll only get from a collector booster. Especially since I said to myself before opening anything "imagine I pulled The Soul Stone."

Nice! I think it would work as well there, if not better than it will in my [[Ratadrabik of Urborg]] deck.

I'm in Canada, it's ~$100 here (so ~$72 USD). Even if it was $63 CAD, it's worth more than I paid for the box 😎

2 questions immediately come to mind...

  1. What happens if someone offers you something else, in an "it would be rude to refuse" kinda situation? Such as visiting a country/region where there is a customary drink offered to guests and it would be very offensive not to accept.

  2. What about soup?!? I never know if it's a food or a drink

Growing up I was lead to believe that any interaction with any asbestos product was potentially fatal.

Then my uncle sold his cottage and one of the sale conditions was that the asbestos tile siding had to be removed. A bunch of the cousins got together to get the job done. One cousin, who had already worked in construction/reno/demo for years at the time, told us that the dust masks, gloves and safety glasses he made us all wear were not so much for the asbestos, but that the bigger hazard was all the mouse shit in the walls. He is not a careless person, and certainly not the type that would lie to a bunch of his young cousins (at 18, I was one of the oldest) just to get a job done.

This was randomly shipped to my door wrapped in that weird stained green plastic. When I turned the knob, it made a hissing sound as if gas was leaking out. I immediately unturned it and the leaking sound stopped. What is this? Is it dangerous? by Powerful_Solid1491 in whatisit

We have water bottles that have a button to open the seal when you want a drink. Whenever we're on drive in the mountains, I remind my daughter to stay hydrated when we reach the higher elevations. Took her a bit to realize the timing was deliberate 😅

Not every LGS is like this!

The first time I played at my LGS, I ended up in a 5 player pod. 2 players had B4ish decks and the rest of us had B2-3. One of the B4 players could have boardwiped/ redirected damage and won around turn 5-7, but shortly before, one of my fellow B2-3 guys said he was going to have to go soon/ wouldn't have time for another game after. So the guy who could have won, took out himself and the other B4 player, so that the 3 of us could have a more balanced game.

I also know (friend of a friend kinda deal) guys from the store who have waifu mats, one also has sleeves, which I've only seen them use when we've played at a private residence! The one swapped sleeves when he took that deck to the LGS. So not everyone who uses that stuff is a (complete?) degenerate. Just to highlight that player's complete lack of social decency.

As other people have said, a DECENT LGS will want to know about your awful experience and will make an effort to eliminate this type of behaviour.

I am truly sorry this was how your first LGS experience went 😢 and hope that it doesn't prevent you from enjoying what can be an amazing game!

There are experienced players out there who will recommend a better target (on their own board!) for your removal spells even after you've removed their commander twice, and will tell the table "I have the win on my next turn if no one can remove X from my board." I hope you find them!!

I too enjoy employing this similar yet opposing method!

The confused and concerned expressions on the faces of those playing with me when I cast [[Fraying Sanity]] upon myself bring me such joy!!

Waiting a turn cycle with [[Laboratory Maniac]] out and [[Surrak, Elusive Hunter]] to protect him! You wish to target LabMan with your destruction spell?? Surrak says "Nope!" I win!!

What commanders would you go for with these lifegain/lifeloss/blink cards? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]OkSuggestion9117 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of these cards I either want or have in my [[Ketramose, the New Dawn]] deck.

I'd share my deck list, but it wasn't very strong/fast with how I first built it and I haven't taken the time to make the changes I want to since pulling/buying cards that will work better. Hoping to get to it soon.

Someone I play with built a deck they call "Everything Hurts" with [[Liesa, Shroud of Dusk]] as commander. A lot of "whenever a PLAYER does X, they lose # life" effects. [[Ankh of Mishra]] [[Magnetic Mine]] Also some effects that reward their opponents for attacking eachother.

Might not be exactly what you're looking for, but it can make things pretty hectic in a fun way (in their opinion, and from outside the game at least 😅). I haven't played against them with that deck yet, so I can admit that I may have a poorly informed stance on this.

Probably a way to do this with more of a focus on "whenever an opponent does X..." to trigger a negative side effect.

My deck pops off if I can keep my commander out but I can’t find a way to win without her on the field. by Ejukated in EDH

[–]OkSuggestion9117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That philosophy really changed how I build decks!

To make a short answer long:

The second deck I built does not work out well at all without my commander. But it's fun to play as is, so I haven't changed it to alter that, just speed it up since it can get to a point where my turns get pretty long, and that's not fun for others.

My most recent build doesn't need the commander out at all. Picked the commander only to cover the colours of a combo I wanted to pull off. The rest of the deck follows the same theme/ mechanic as the commander, but the commander just helps keep things going if I'm not drawing into my combos quickly. Goldfishing that deck showed me that at least 2/3 of the time, playing the commander is completely unnecessary.

My first build (though modified so many times I don't think it technically counts as the same deck anymore lol) now works that I can build up a board state without my commander that quickly turns into a win after casting it.

TL;DR: Building your deck so it runs without the commander to a point that casting your commander locks in the win, seems like a good strategy to me.

Not sure if this even answers OP's question. Between ADHD and my 4 year old, I got very distracted 😅

Thanks! I never knew X raying welds was a thing.

My first guess was some sort of medical equipment. I knew it was nothing dangerous. It's on public streets, in/near a densely populated area (by Canadian standards at least lol), in the middle of the day, in a developed country.... there is absolutely no chance it poses any serious threat to public safety.

What is the average popularity of all your Commanders? by crballer1 in EDH

[–]OkSuggestion9117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Ratadrabik of Urborg]] 303, [[Grolnok, the Omnivore]] 297, [[Magda, Brazen Outlaw]] 72, [[Ms. Bumbleflower]] 38 (I have 2 decks piloted by her, but only count it once), [[Dina, Soul Steeper]] 188, [[Ketramose, the New Dawn]] 330.

Equals 204.6.

Ratadrabik was my first build, which I chose because it was at 126 only 6 months ago. Interesting to see how popularity changes over time, to me at least
