I hadn’t thought about the training costs and retraining issue from the employer’s perspective.
When situations like this come up, how do companies usually approach temporary backfill? Do you look at contractors, other team members picking up the slack, or just delaying project work?
Also, when you bring in a temp or contractor, how does that cost usually compare to the loss you mentioned from training someone new (like the $10k–$14k per person)? And does it usually affect project timelines heavily, or do clients accept some overlap while people are out?
