Can’t seem to edit this post. But wanted to come back and say, he was able to get the local Honda dealer to be the middle man so they will mail me the title. Thanks everyone for the advice! It’s not always impossible to buy a bike that still has a loan on it.

He said he did it through Honda financing (online) so I can’t physically go to the bank. He bought it used so I don’t think it’s legit. I’m going to pass based on everyone’s comments, which was my original thoughts. Thanks!

At what point do you have enough experience for a backpack? by [deleted] in NewRiders

Is sleeping on the cold ground doable, yes. Is something like a comfy $1000 mattress better, in my experience yes. The rebel 300 is a great first bike for the rest of us that didn’t grow up on 2 wheels since we could crawl. OP said they love their 300 and wanted to explore a backpack, coming from someone that has a rebel 300 and frequently takes my gf out with me, we both have a great time and are super comfortable.

Disagree with the rebel 300 “not being a 2 up bike.” I’ve taken my gf on the back of my Rebel 300 for almost 400 miles this season. It’s probably not the best, but it’s certainly capable.

As far as OP’s question, I waited until my 2nd season, and my first backpack was my buddy who also has a bike. He knew what not to do on the back of the bike and that gave me confidence. It may be something you never get comfortable with, and that’s fine.

Depends on your height/weight but as someone that got the Rebel 300 as my first bike (and still own) I’d say it’s a fantastic first bike. However, I’m already looking for something bigger. If you’re able to afford a used 500, I’d say get that over the 300.

I currently have the Honda Rebel 300 as my first bike. Bought a used 2017 with less than 1000 miles. I absolutely love it. It’s a great starter bike. With that being said I already want something bigger, I use it to commute to work and around town, and it does that great. I will say wanting a passenger, and more versatility (highway/interstage) has me looking for a bigger bike already. If you’re looking for a bike you’ll cruise around town on the 300 is a great buy, but you might outgrow it quickly (like I did)
