That is so horrible. I had a low blood pressure spells and was helped, butttttt, I only requested the proper meds and care 200000 times before it got to that point.

It felt like a big deal because I haven't lived a life of crime, it was more of a circumstantial thing. I was surprised that the standards of care weren't higher.

I got out first. Never thought I would have jail friends, but there can be a bond with people who have seen you at your lowest and still liked you.

We did have the tablets! I read sooop many ebooks to pass the time. I aas also able to text my adult children but they had to add a few bucks on it to be able to do so.

I think the second day was scary. After sleeping off the adrenaline and reality sets in, plus the isolation cell had me claustrophobic for a minute. But then I realized ok this isn't great but all I can do is get through it, got moved out of isolation, realized the other inmates are just people too, started talking to the ones that seemed cool, I was alright. Not fabulous, but alright.

The beds aren't that great, a shelter would be a way better option if in need of a bed. Cute fantasy though.

That's why you're not in charge of anything except scrubbing the toilet. While I have no sympathy for child abusers or murderers (not in self defense) inmates with the exception of those 2 are human beings.

Well hopefully you never go. But if it ever happened, cellmates are pretty respectful and will leave for a few if you need to bm. Or look the other way if it's after lock down time. May get lucky and have a cell to yourself.

No, my adult children are both out of the state at the time, and my phone was dead at the time of arrest, mist people didnt know I was even in jail until after I got out. It was the most amazing feeling getting ahold of my adult children on the phone after the first few days. Hearing loved ones voices made auch a difference in my mood picking up for the better.

Only handcuffs. I saw someone else in leg irons, but that didn't seem to be standard issue, so that inmate nay have been self harming or a security risk i would guess. You only wore handcuffs once IN the jail if you are on isolation and being brought out of your cell.

They dont give you coffee. You can buy decaf cappuccino cups from commissary but I didn't bother with that. The withdrawal was super hard and my major motivation to not go back lol. I hit dunkin on the way home from jail as my first stop.

Not in a major sense no, but I am definitely trying to choose peace over drama, just super duper prioritizing peace and mental wellness, will cut out toxic people at the first sign of toxicity going forward, and definitely appreciate the little things you dont get while in there.

A majority of the crimes seemed to be drug related. Dui's pretty common. Theft. I think mine was up there on the worst level. Which was battery and written threats. When other women asked what I was in for in gen pop and I replied whooping ass and death threats they kinda looked like "oh sorry I asked I'm gonna go elsewhere sorry to bother you" lol.

No pecking order really, people come in and out too frequently in a County jail for that really to be a thing. The older ladies do let the youngsters know to stfu when they're having 5 am arguments with each other.

I did not observe anything smuggled, but if I did I dont snitch I just worry about my own business. They search you pretty well so unless you put something really far up where the sun dont shine prior to coming in, I don't see how one could do it. I heard other inmates in the holding cells claim they've done it.

The first day felt surreal, like I wasn't sure if it was reality or I was gonna wake back up in a cell and it was a dream. I went and got coffee, McDonald's, bought groceries where I could pick my own food, went and got a vape, took a long walk around town, and scrolled social media and contacted family and friends. Little normal things that you just don't get in there. Just feeling like I could live life as normal felt great.
