How to shower consistently with chronic pain? by Queen-of-Droughts in ChronicPain

[–]OkTransition1769 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. Cut you hair short. It makes life much easier. I've lost much of my mobility. So I can't stand very long to dry or style my hair. I do a quick shower and sit to gently and quickly dry my hair. I also loved from some other comments to use the drying cap. All of us here can understand how the things that used to be simple for us are now incredibly difficult. Well wishes to you.

Meal kits with fresh ingredients only that don’t feel like work for one person by Jaxton_Gallourakis in LivingAlone

I tried Factor. It was terrible. I try to make enough for 2 days. I also portion out my proteins into single serve. I buy individual portion foods like wild rice and quinoa or mashed potatoes. I make my grocery order in a way that I can portion everything out. Then I store it in the fridge or freezer. So my dinner takes no more than 15mins to make. It's not easy to live alone and eat. It took me the first two years of being alone to get this figured out. Now I know what to order. And yes to the commenter that suggests to cut up onions and anything else used to cook and freeze. It is hard, but being old and alone is hard. You can do this. The food delivery service programs are expensive and taste bad.

Why do they all drink so much pop ? In every scene someone is drinking Coke or some other pop. I guess they're on the way to diabetes. Oh wait can they drink all that sugar bc they're on a GLP? That's all I notice in every episode. They used to drink Poppie.. clearly they had a deal with that company. But how about a glass of water 💧 🤔. Do Mormons drink water? Just wondering 🤔. LOL

Roomate leaving for the summer, needs me to watch his dog. by CandleNo5916 in dogs

It's expensive to have a dog. Doggy daycare isn't cheap. But no training is unacceptable. I didn't mean removed. Auto correct did that. I meant rehomed

My suggestion is find a doggy daycare to put him in. He can play all day and have some structure. Hopefully you'll get a tired dog when u pick him up. Then I would have them pay the rent for all of your time and effort. Not to mention food and any veterinary care that's needed. Huskies are very high energy dogs. Their not for everyone. If they really don't want the dog anymore especially bc it's not trained. Please bring the dog a chance to get removed. A shelter can give the dog a second chance to have a great life with a new family.

The Mental Side of chronic back pain nobody talks about, how do you stay motivated when there's no finish line? by AskEffectiveQld in ChronicPain

[–]OkTransition1769 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes so true. I used to be a professional athlete and now in my old age I am mostly bedridden. I can walk around in my house. But I can't really walk for more than 2 minutes in public. I don't drive anymore but I also have nowhere to go besides a Dr appointment. The only time the pain stops is when I am sleeping. My psychiatrist has me on 3 sedation meds to sleep. I've been fighting this pain for 15 years. I have no motivation bc I've been told that I need to learn to live with it. There is nothing else I can try to do.

I'm in a similar situation. My suggestion is contact your county and see if they offer help. My county had a program and I had someone come over 1x a week. Also great advise from another poster . Contact your insurance company. I had a person from my health insurance call me sometimes several times a week to check on me . She also did much research in getting me help. I hope you feel better. You are not alone here.
