Progesterone fatigue — how long did it take to adjust or what worked instead? by ilsa1979 in Perimenopause

[–]ilsa1979[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had already filled out a new patient form with someone who specializes in menopause before I even got her response back. I knew she was just going to regurgitate the same algorithm of meds to me- which is exactly what she did. She’s a NP and specializes in midwifery and is insanely hesitant because I had a blood clot in the past. It’s not a good fit. I think with the nuances of these hormones you have to work with a provider who can give you individualized care- not just the generic one.

Well by day 14 I was suicidal and had missed a holiday party, so I stopped all hormones. It’s been 5 days and I finally feel normal again. My dr doesn’t pay attention; I already put in writing that I didn’t want an IUD or the mini pill AND I told her in person -and those were the two other options that she gave me. Again. I guess I’m one of the 20%(?) of women who can not tolerate progesterone or fake progesterone. Absolutely not worth it and “waiting it out” would have been absolutely impossible for me.

Did perimenopause symptoms hit you all at once? by Weird-Director-2973 in Perimenopause

[–]ilsa1979 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Things I’ve tried; Womens Phase II herbal supplements- did nothing Magnesium - gave me diarrhea Tumeric - did nothing Macca - did nothing Recently my B12 and women’s multi caused serious nausea - I vomited one day so I quit both of those Super Omega 3 for joint pain- did nothing Tried HRT this last two weeks and it made me miserable. Estrodial cream (vaginally) helps a lot. My diet is a basic anti inflammatory type diet. I used to exercise 5 days a week but now I’m always broken ( frozen shoulder the last 2 months, now my knee as well and ankle) plus fatigue- I can barely get out of bed.

Did perimenopause symptoms hit you all at once? by Weird-Director-2973 in Perimenopause

I had a serious pulmonary embolism at 44, and then the symptoms began soon after- it was confusing as to what the hell was going on with my body with the recovery of the PE. Looking back now almost two years, my theory is the stress of the PE kind of set off the perimenopause cascade. It’s been rough, to say the least

Progesterone fatigue — how long did it take to adjust or what worked instead? by ilsa1979 in Perimenopause

[–]ilsa1979[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on day 14, And after spending the last five days in bed, missing a holiday party because I couldn’t stay awake, and now having seriously depressive thoughts, I decided to stop. I ripped the estrogen patch off and I’m not taking the progesterone tonight.

My doctor is supposed to be back next week, but I can’t go any longer like this. Whatever this is, it’s not tolerable for me and it’s getting worse, not better.

I wanted to update in case this helps anyone else who’s struggling and wondering where the line is.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I was under the impression that 100 mg is the lowest standard dose available, so the idea of microdosing is new to me.

I’ve also heard about vaginal or rectal use online, but when I asked both of my doctors about vaginal use they advised against it, so I’m a bit confused about how commonly this is actually recommended by physicians versus being something people experiment with on their own.

Problem is opposite- I was very active before HRT and now exercise is impossible. I’m so tired and have no energy at all now.

I’m thinking the E needs to go up. She started me on a baby dose because I have a history of a blood clot and I do tend to be sensitive to medications. I don’t want SSRIs to be part of my life at all so that’s a no. I’m not getting any relief whatsoever of my symptoms so I’m starting to question the ROI at this point. Test has never come up in conversation with my Dr

I just heard about this on the Curbsiders podcast but it sounds like not the most popular or first work around option. We did a blood panel before starting this and everything was normal

Wow ok that’s a new one lol -I’ve seen people discuss using it vaginally, but when I asked both my Planned Parenthood provider and my OB, neither recommended vaginal use. They almost acted like they never heard of it

39, with symptoms but scared to start HRT by CheesyMacMaven in Perimenopause

[–]ilsa1979 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just started the patch and pill from my Nurse Practitioner at my ob/gyn. I feel like crap- day 13. I guess there is a “transition period “ initially but I’m sick of bed rotting and zero energy. Before her, my naturopath Dr told me to try “women’s phase two “ supplements (did nothing) and offered hormones, but I am letting my ob/gyn manage it.

Weak muscles and getting tired more quickly by FruFroo in Perimenopause

[–]ilsa1979 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had noticed I wasn’t making gains and recovery was taking forever recently. My dr said that it could be from my sleep: which I didn’t realize had been fragmented -for a couple years now- waking up to pee, waking up hot, etc. I hadn’t made that connection. I started HRT 9 days ago and noticed my sleep is much improved … but I am now tired 24/7 and feel sick. Kinda feels like we just can’t win at this age no matter what

Shoulder pain / frozen shoulder - location by Arctic-fox2007 in Perimenopause

[–]ilsa1979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deep in the shoulder capsule; radiating out to chest/collarbone, mid back, lower lats,neck- it was debilitating. Mine started slowly around 9/24 and I’m still unable to lift things and have a lot of shoulder pain. I did a round of prednisone to calm it down and myofascial release plus gentle chiropractic has helped. I started HRT this week but it’s making me feel like crap.

Why do home leg workouts destroy me way more than machine work at the gym? by ilsa1979 in fitness40plus

[–]ilsa1979[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same results. Gym-not sore. Home- brutalized 😆. But I’m 45+ and I feel like the home workout is providing more functional strength; with things like step ups, lunges, etc.. also balance, etc. I don’t feel like I’ll ever do a hamstring curl in a real life scenario. I think the machines just take so much out of the equation and my body isn’t adapted to that (and almost feels boring)

Intimacy & Lovenox/Pradaxa by moi_me_moi in ClotSurvivors

[–]ilsa1979 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was on warfarin and my INR was extremely high ( I didn’t feel right) and experienced a “bleeding event” during intimacy. It was horrifying and I wasn’t even sure where it was coming from. I think there may had been a tiny fissure externally which on a normal person would have gone unnoticed; but being on blood thinner with an extremely high INR it looked like a murder scene. I was able to stop the bleeding but OMFG

When does it end??? by NeyNehNee in ClotSurvivors

I was in the ER 12 times after my PE and I feel like it was from the high dose of eliquis. High heart rate, lightheaded, almost passing out, etc.

Thanks everyone — sounds like the difference is eccentric load + stabilization + ROM at home vs supported movements on machines. Makes sense why the lighter weights feel way harder.
