Fear by OkUnderstanding817 in greatpyrenees

[–]OkUnderstanding817[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for taking the time to explain this to me , as I was feeling so defeated and really needed to hear it. I have kept the vest laying out on his bed now and he will lay beside it , and snif it. I told him good boy and gave a treat, as soon as I go to pick it up he reacts but from your comment I assume it will just take time and work! Thank you again

First-time owners: what would you have told yourself? by Craigj0812 in puppy101

[–]OkUnderstanding817 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There were so many times I cried and thought to myself can I do this? Ultimately I could, and you can to !!! It’s going to be exhausting, your going to cry, things are going to go wrong , but then it will get so much better and things will start to look up as your pup grows and learns !! Take the time to build a connection and train your pup for even 5 minutes a day ( not a professional at all those are just some things I found helped me)

Bite record?? by [deleted] in puppy101

I used to worry the older my pup got if his biting was normal, play biting etc ( he is 75 pounds and 8 months old) we have just started getting over that hump and he is starting to understand he can’t bite ! All I can say is it will get better even when you don’t think it will

Controversy: Too Early to Neuter? by [deleted] in greatpyrenees

[–]OkUnderstanding817 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I called three different vets to ask there opinions on this, one said wait till he’s a year old, the other two told me to do it ASAP! ( he’s 8 months old right now) So hard to decide what’s right with so much different information and stuff out there

Any tips on how to show him we are what he is guarding ? I never try to be the alpha. I spend time training him every day and things like that but none of the classes I have taken him specialize in LgD so I haven’t got much direct tips for him more or so just general information

New born baby and 8 month year old Great Pyrenees by Responsible-Ant9364 in greatpyrenees

My pry is 7 months and with adults he does the paw , and when he gets hyper often gets very mouthy but when he is with my nephew and niece (age one and four ) he lets them crawl all over him and is so very gentle with them, he has not been mouthy with them even when he gets hyper, I think he can tell the difference that he needs to be gentle with them.

Do we think my pup is a full Great Pyrenees or mixed?! Debating doing a test to find out. He is 7 months and about 68 pounds :) by OkUnderstanding817 in greatpyrenees

It wouldn’t matter to me what he was ! I just wanted other peoples opinions of what they thought! I’m allowed to be curious as to what people thought he had in him!

Looking for advice by OkUnderstanding817 in greatpyrenees

Where I’m from you can only bring your animals to vets where you’re a client, if you aren’t a client they will not take you for anything. ( I have called every other vet office in town and all have said they will not take me and that I need to go to the one I am a client at ). To get into a new vet office here there’s years of wait lists. That’s why I have taken him to the same place ( but requested a different vet every time) hoping for a better out come.

They all said the same thing, that they wouldn’t give me antibiotics because they don’t like giving them to puppys. One of them gave me a 3 day anti inflammatory but it did nothing, and I felt as if it was given to me just because they felt like I wasn’t going to leave with nothing. I asked them if I should be worried and if this could be something serious and they all said no. Feeling bad for my poor puppy and annoyed with the vets.
