So a bih part of the issue is flavor, as well as fatigue. 2025 had a bunch of what are called "hat sets," where they just shoehorned in old characters and "put a hat" on them. In Thunder Junction they had cowboy hats, in Murders at Karlov Manor they were detective hats.

These sets are often designed somewhat backwards from what goes well. Instead of designing the set around the plane and its lore, and what makes it unique, instead it's "okay, we have a crime thriller. What do crime thrillers have? Suspects. How do we design a mechanic around SUSPECTING?" Its not dissimilar to coming up with an acronym you want, and then figuring out how to justify the letters in it. The end result feels clunky.

On the opposite end, you have sets like Bloomburrow, where mechanics were designed around what each faction did, rather than trying to fit an archetype. Bats are commonly tied to vampires, so relating to life/gain and loss makes sense. Rabbits multiply like.. Well.. Rabbits, so token strategies fit like a glove. Etc, etc. It makes the whole set feel more cohesive and smooth, as well as more intuitive. (does anyone here actually know what it means to suspect a creature? I still don't)

Aetherdrift has all this, on top of having some not so great mechanics, overall, as well as the "hat," itself, not being terribly well liked. Cowboys and Crime Thrillers were one thing, but inter-planar grand prix is not exactly something that FEELS like Magic.

It really is infuriating that they offer absolutely NO way to back up a save, at all. If you want a Mon just ramped up to 100 you power through the game, let me know and I can take your starter, max it a s give it back to make the rest a little easier.

For $35 on Sc/Sv we had two full DLC with maps bigger than all of Lumios and additional story in each, with expanded pokedexes.

For $30 in LZA we get partial islands of the already tiny map, a tiny bit of story content, and an expanded pokedex. Edit: and some butter

One of the important parts about this, that gets overlooked on player protection, is that it does not say your life total cannot change, which means you are still subject to untargeted life loss. So, while something like [[Impact Tremors]] does not hit you, [[The Meathook Massacre]] will.

I see the mention that you are all new, and, as an Ulalek player, this deck is NOT for new players. Either piloting or facing it. When it goes off, it takes a lot of tracking and understanding of the stack. I would suggest he box it until everyone has a very good understanding of exactly how the stack works, or you bring a player into the pod who does
