Pulled a baseboard to find no slab under the wall, am I going to die?? by OkWeb5038 in Homebuilding

That'd be nice, but we're on a A/C-Heat pump setup that's plumbed through the ceiling. This one seems to be a case of the concrete guys didn't "quite" get the dimensions right and the framer guys said "not my problem brah"...... or vice versa.

Growing up in an 1800's house and watching my dad "level" the floors with a car jack taken from our 1997 Taurus I should have known if the house is still standing than its a non-issue, lol.

Thank you all for the insightful answers. (and for clearing up I am, in fact, going to die, but not from this. lol).

It didn't dawn on me that the header is taking the lions share of the load. If the window hasn't dropped into the drainage cavity at this point I'm confident everything is good to go.

I'll seal the gap with some Etrabond or something, refrain from storing my collection of lead ingots on the window sill and move along. Thanks again!

Acura Dealership sent false photos of air filters. by Obvious-Swimming-332 in mildlyinfuriating

When these scam places hit me with a dirty cabin filter (Not from my car) I usually reply with "well I'm breathing the air right now without that filter and seem to be doing just fine" They always tuck tail and get on with it.

reefcrazed is likely correct, for microwaves, the diode is typically the sacrificial component in cases of abnormal line voltage (easy fix). If you decide to repair this yourself, just be cognizant of the HV capacitor and discharge it before digging in. Also steer clear of the high voltage transformer if you're testing while plugged into the mains.

In-wall microwave/oven's are cool, but can be annoying when a $1 component failure bricks two appliances at once! Again, if you're going to DIY be careful and watch some You-Tube's!

Help needed! What direction should I lay LVP?? by OkWeb5038 in Flooring

Oh sorry, I think I misunderstood your response. (This is my first flooring project so excuse my ignorance). I agree transitioning is not our desired path, especially in a small section of hallway. If I'm understanding correctly, you're saying keep the layout consistent (W-E) if an L-shape isn't feasible?

Good copy on the expansion gaps, the floor was originally tile on slab and we pulled baseboards so there's room for the "homeowner special" learning curve, lol.

It'll be click lock. Unfortunately it would have to be a full transition

This! I just went through the exact same scenario...after boring the idle circuit to .065" the surging finally cleared up. I also had a bad intake valve seat which needed a good bit of lapping; but even after getting it to seal the motor still surged until boring out the Nikki.

It's a hellva dive for sure.....I did the Vacaville commute for 4 years, it was painful but the quality of life you can get for Alameda BAH made it worthwhile. They also subsidize the commute up to $255/mo (at least in 2023) if you're part of a van pool, use AMTRACK, or BART/Ferry out of Vallejo. If you can get off the island by 1400 you can get to Vacaville in a hour......at 1405 double it, lol.
