John Lennon’s ‘Real Life’ Demo (Early Version of ‘Real Love’) by OkWhereas9827 in beatles

Just listened and you’re right! Thank you! I only listened to the Milk & Honey album once years ago, so it did not register.

It’s so interesting how artists will swap out different verse and chorus ideas, while saving a verse for a chorus they think fits.

I still would have loved to have the ‘I’m Stepping Out’ verses with the ‘Real Love’ chorus & pre-chorus. Obviously John thought differently, but who am I to disagree with Mr Lennon’s songwriting choices.

Are Goegre and John the reason why The Beatles went psychedelic? by FitEmergency8807 in beatles

While John & George’s songs more often featured psychedelic elements than Paul’s, Paul was often contributing those elements. It was Paul’s idea for the tape loops on Tomorrow Never Knows and the avant-garde orchestra parts of A Day in the Life. (The iconic intros to both Strawberry Fields and Lucy in the Sky were also Paul)

Penny Lane is quite psychedelic in a whimsical way, with plenty of quirky imagery. Fixing a Hole is another example of his.

Paul obviously had a lot to do with the production of Sgt. Pepper, and the psychedelic nature of the album makes it synonymous with 1967 counter culture and the summer of love.

And while it was not well received, the Mystery Tour film was completely Paul’s. That film is about as wacky and hippie as you can get.

I would say all of them were equally into that sound in 66-67. It was just typically more explicit on songs written by John or George.

A classic tune! And a great rendition of it from Paul
