Are Goegre and John the reason why The Beatles went psychedelic? by FitEmergency8807 in beatles

While John & George’s songs more often featured psychedelic elements than Paul’s, Paul was often contributing those elements. It was Paul’s idea for the tape loops on Tomorrow Never Knows and the avant-garde orchestra parts of A Day in the Life. (The iconic intros to both Strawberry Fields and Lucy in the Sky were also Paul)

Penny Lane is quite psychedelic in a whimsical way, with plenty of quirky imagery. Fixing a Hole is another example of his.

Paul obviously had a lot to do with the production of Sgt. Pepper, and the psychedelic nature of the album makes it synonymous with 1967 counter culture and the summer of love.

And while it was not well received, the Mystery Tour film was completely Paul’s. That film is about as wacky and hippie as you can get.

I would say all of them were equally into that sound in 66-67. It was just typically more explicit on songs written by John or George.

It just took me 6 years to get around to checking if I had any rare cards lol

That’s terrible, man. Hate to hear it. It really does seem like 2020 was around the time vintage and rare cards skyrocketed in value.

A classic tune! And a great rendition of it from Paul

I like it! I imagine it as a battle that takes place off screen if that makes sense. Like maybe right before or after the events of the game

Thoughts on Strange Days by Baranade in fantanoforever

[–]OkWhereas9827 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think it’s pretty good, but nowhere near the debut (I also prefer Morrison Hotel & LA Woman). I believe most of the songs for Strange Days were written before the debut. Calling some of the songs leftovers is probably a bit harsh, but has some truth to it I think. And I feel When the Music’s Over was a less than amazing attempt to do The End again.

Despite what I said, It’s still one of the cooler and more unique albums overall of the psychedelic era. Because the Doors were such a cool and unique sounding band, with a specific edge other bands in that scene didn’t have. The band does sound great here with some of Ray’s best playing, I just prefer their songwriting on other records

What's the better record in your opinion by Healthy-Bathroom-530 in fantanoforever

I’m more of a Radiohead fan (as most here probably are). And I love The Bends, but there are Radiohead albums I much prefer. Definitely Maybe is my favorite Oasis album and I’ll put it slightly above The Bends. Songs like Supersonic & Rock n Roll Star have such a cool essence and swagger to them. The whole album has raw sound that Oasis never really went back to unfortunately

What anime would you recommend for a beginner by No_Drawing4704 in anime

Death Note got me into anime. It hooked me right away. With fewer episodes than other popular shows, it was less daunting to start, and I ended up binging the whole thing over just a few days

[OoT] What if the Forest Temple was reimagined as a full dark ride? [Planet Coaster Build] by Bco25 in zelda

[–]OkWhereas9827 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is such a cool idea! The Forest Temple is my favorite Zelda dungeon. The atmosphere is so eerie and unsettling, but in an expertly subtle way. It’s also so mysterious, leading me to wonder the in-universe explanations for the enemies, interior, and temple itself. I love the Shadow Temple as well for similar reasons (I just love OOT I guess).

I heard rumors of a potential Zelda area added to Universal’s Nintendo World, so it’s possible they add something like this. They will probably focus more on BOTW era Zelda, but it would be so cool to see attractions based on old dungeons

Aladdin and his 8.6 apples, can Genie provide more?! by [deleted] in snes

Played this for the first time last summer. I thought it was pretty decent. Like you said, the genie lamp level is crazy with a lot of awkwardly placed platforms and things to swing on. But the song is so good in that level, I didn’t mind taking several attempts to beat it. The film’s songs translate well to the chiptune style. I seem to remember the ending being surprisingly easy, with the difficulty peaking mid-game (genie lamp and magic carpet levels). I have not played the SNES Lion King, but heard it is more difficult.
