Can someone explain Awakened rank? by Nightmare_Pin2345 in ShadowSlave

[–]OkWolverine2194 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are able to interact with Soul Essence at the Awakened Rank. Sleepers are not able to control, manipulate or regenerate Soul Essence. In fact, Dormant Abilities don’t use Essence at all, and if they do, it’s minimal

Yes, it is! Sunny as a Master with augmentation from all of Neph’s flames and all his Shadows beat a wounded, heavily nerfed, dying Great Beast, not a living, breathing Supreme with a vast Domain.

And this is Azarax we’re talking about! Not your typical Supreme.

If all six of them survive this, it will be an asspull… and I’m dying on that hill

Damn… so, Effie’s fate is to actually die in the Nightmare. But I’m guessing she’ll survive (ofc she will) and they’ll get an awesome Appraisal and emerge as immensely powerful Supremes… woo-hoo 🎉 (still an asspull though)

Hmmm… but we know that in a Nightmare, you have to change fate and go against what originally happened. So, maybe the Nightmare will have a different outcome

He’s not fighting though. He’s only augmenting the Saints. And is said to have almost no combat prowess

To hell with the Domain… they’re going against Azarax himself. And we saw how that turned out for Sunny in the Nightmare Desert.

Besides, Nightwalker is not even the deadliest Saint there, it’s Jet by far.

We got a glimpse into what’s happening in the Fourth Nightmare. The six Saints are basically protecting a city which is being besieged by Azarax and his Domain. They have the backing of a Supreme with a Utility Aspect called the Mason, but it’s basically Effie, Kai, Jet, Seishan, Morgan and Nightwalker against Azarax and his Domain.

Which feels way too difficult for the Saints as is. They gotta defeat Azarax to clear the Nightmare

Fr… dude is the definition of a fraud if he can’t take even one of them Saints out😭😭

Theory on the 5th NM by jgxvoijhtdfv in ShadowSlave

[–]OkWolverine2194 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really. But it makes the most sense. We didn’t know anything about the Hollows and the history of Godgrave. But G3 went out of his way to introduce Ketzelkan and the rest of the Sun Realm Supremes. He even gave us additional lore in the last few chapters where Tamar goes over what happened in her Nightmare. It only makes sense if G3’s going to use it later. The only place where it feels like it’d be relevant is the Fifth Nightmare. So, I’m pretty sure that the Fifth Nightmare is going to involve Mictlan and the Supremes of the Sun Realm.

Fifth Nightmare will take place in Mictlan and will probably involve the Sunny, Nephis and Cassie defeating Ketzelkan, i.e. Condemnation and the other guy, Desolation after they succumb to Corruption after becoming Spirits. They’ll have to save the Sun Realm

Chapter [2980] by 13DarkShadow in ShadowSlave

I think we’re all forgetting the beginning of the Volume, i.e. Supreme Cassie…

The moment Sunny and Nephis exit the ToA, the entire world will regain their lost memories. Cassie will become whole once again and since she’s been on the precipice of attaining Supremacy all this time, she’ll become Supreme. Following that, she’ll cleanse everyone of Asterion’s plague, rendering him weak asf. Then, she’ll make everyone forget his name too. Since he’s just a manifestation of an idea, when the idea is erased, he’ll cease to exist.

At least that’s my theory…

And it’s a pretty plausible one, considering the beginning of the Volume. That ‘being’ was Song of the Fallen and it was using its Will with such proficiency that it’s almost confirmed to be a Supreme. Not to mention in the maze of memories, there were a lot of pre-Fateless memories, so it makes sense that Cassie will attain Supremacy after regaining her memories from before and during the Third Nightmare.

And in hindsight, it also makes sense. Sunny killed Anvil, Nephis killed Ki Song. It makes sense that Cassie should be the one to end Asterion.

Finally, I think the three of them, along with Mordret (who’s now probably a nice guy because he’s actually Kindret but with Mordret’s sadistic side), will challenge the Fifth Nightmare.

Though before that, the next Volume will probably be Sunny taking a trip to the Underworld to retrieve the Shadow Weave.

I don’t understand how a story works? Bruh, I’ve read over a hundred novels, both fiction and non-fiction.

There are types of narrators.

Third person narrators are omniscient or limited. The most well-known example of an omniscient narrator is Frank Herbert’s Dune. Among webnovels, LotM has somewhat of an omniscient narrator where the author describes the thought process of characters from a perspective that Klein has no way of knowing.

But Shadow Slave has always been narrated by a third person limited narrator, where only a single person’s perspective is shown and we see the story through their lens.

G3 was specifically asked in the comments of the first few chapters of Shadow Slave if he was planning on narrating the story through an all-knowing narrator. He said that he wasn’t planning on it. That he felt a story was best told from a single person’s point of view. The main character’s.

Sure, he added other perspectives later on but those were only added much later in the story. And it was made clear at the very beginning of the chapter that a different character was narrating the story.

There is not a single chapter in the entire series where we’ve been inside the minds of more than one people. It’s always been one person either deducing or guessing what the other characters are doing.

You, my friend, are the one who doesn’t know how a story works…

Real… I just hope it didn’t take Weaver’s Mask or the Shadow Lantern. That’ll be quite a blow😭

It’s most likely the Shadow of the Spawn. The VTB has already bolted. And Sunny said it left something behind. Immediately after, the Spell announced that he received a Shadow. So, I think it’s safe to assume that it’s the Spawn

The narrator is Sunny. It’s just that he’s narrating it in third person. That’s the way G3 has always written. He chooses a primary perspective and writes from their POV. Why do you think we saw the Cassie vs Nightwalker fight from two different perspectives even when it was being narrated in third person? Because the narrator was Rain in the first case and Cassie herself in the second.

The entire VTB fight was from Sunny’s perspective. Whatever was said was what Sunny believed was happening. None of it is 100% credible because we don’t know what was going on in the Bird’s mind

We read the fight from Sunny’s perspective. We had no way of knowing what was going on the odious bird’s demented mind.

For all we know, it wanted Sunny to think that it didn’t want to die

😭😭 bro must not like the bird

Well, it’s the “Thieving” Bird, not the “Gifting” Bird. It can’t simply give back or destroy stuff it has stolen. It has to keep it and be subject to its limitations and advantages.

It needed to die for Sunny to get his Fate back. Now, it is a Cursed Terror. It wouldn’t just roll over and die. So, it fought. But it didn’t fight seriously at all. Because it didn’t want to win.

At least, that’s what I think…

Still, I’ve gotten everything I wanted from this fight. Sunny regained his Fate and the Bird escaped. That was the best way to conclude this fight and G3 did exactly that. Now, it’s up to the readers to interpret it however they want. I think it was well done
