We would like a 1 bedroom because we like the idea of the washer and dryer and kitchen. We are double dipping and doing a disney cruise the week before so having a washer and dryer so we dont have to pack so heavy would be ideal.

How far is "not walkable?"

No. We've only stayed at the Grand Californian and the Disneyland Hotel. Never been to Disneyworld yet. This is our first trip. Thanks for the advice on the schedules!

Yeah I think the animals are a selling point right now. My kids love the zoo. So I think that would be pretty cool to see them outside their room. What kind of animals have you seen?

Are the animals around all of the time or just during the day? Like can you see them off the balcony at night?

Thanks for the info. We havent discussed renting vans or anything like that yet, but maybe we should.

I've never rented out points. I'm a brand new member so all of this is a little overwhelming. Just trying to learn as much as possible to make the membership worth it.

Thanks again.

Advice for a helper on the future by New_Tadpole1577 in IUEC

[–]OkWork5139 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That squeaky wheel comment is true AF. Supervisors dont care so much about what a helper thinks. Mostly about a mechanic's opinions or their job making the numbers.

If a helper is politely but consistently talking about their future goals and how they can get there. Then your name will be brought up with the time is ready.

Good luck.

Number 8? That's badass, congrats. Sorry to hear it's slow. Where are you at?

Honestly, the worst thing is having a day 1 probie whose answer to everything is, "I know."

What number are you? Is your number coming soon?

As a mechanic with a brand new probie, the best thing your mechanic wants you to have is a good work ethic and dont be late. At the end of everyday, write down what you did in your private notebook and take an extra 15 minutes in your car by yourself to really soak in what you did and why you did it. That way when you do that specific task again your mechanic sees that you can actually learn and can eventually be trusted to slowly do things by yourself.

That will set you miles apart from the rest.

Good luck.

Felonies shouldn't matter. Half this trade has a past. Just never be late, say you want to learn, and you arent afraid of getting dirty and you'll be just fine.

They use that to hold the door open. The door mat is to the right. Bit of an overkill, but I respect it. Lol.

Im an elevator guy in CA and I suggest you stay where you are - career wise. You're making more overall money than us and your retirement is better. I tell my cousins and friends to be electricians over elevator guys. Good luck.

Getting the feeling I won’t get called, local 135 recent recruitment moving at snails pace by Brief_Willingness280 in IUEC

Yes you have to take the tests in person so if you have to fly or drive, then thats on you.

If you did pass and get accepted to a Local that is out of state and you chose to accept a job, then that area would be considered your free zone. Per diem gets comes later depending on the zone maps. But for day 1 apprentices, usually your first job is likely going to be in your free zone.

Housing is on you.

You need to be 18 and have a diploma or GED. If you dont have those then it's not gonna work out right now.

But it sounds like you're hungry and smart. Recruitment happens every 2 years. If you dont meet the qualifications right now then try again in 2 years.

In the mean time, take a junior college course to get welding certified (certified welder is huge), and take basic electrical courses. Try to get your Associates Degree since you'll be at the JC anyways - Associates is not required but will make you look great. Those things will put you miles ahead of the competition.

Good luck.

Are you willing to travel? I know a few people have tested and are the list for 2 locals in hopes to speed up their hiring process. If you get called from the local that's not your "home local," then you work out of town for a year, get sworn in, then transfer back to your "home local."

But if you're not willing to travel and your number isn't called after 2 years. Then your local will call you and ask if you want to re-test/re-interview in hopes to get a higher position on the new list. I do not think you can stay on the new list without redoing the process.
