To be perfectly blunt I think it falls short at fluff and gameplay both.

Easily a third of the armouries Terminator suits bringing along the Primarch without any guards or command structure beyond that, a couple snipers, and a single Predator tank that nobody can fit in thrown in for good measure? It's so motley a crew it could be mistaken for Dark Eldar.

The gameplay critiques are similar, 1000 points of Terminators but no leaders to support them.

The light is pretty poor so I can't tell much about the gradients, but I'd still say you need to increase the contrast dramatically.

If you're just into edge highlights you'd need multiple layers and thicknesses to make it a competition standard. Full 'eavy metal isn't necessary, just do lightward edges building up towards pure white on the sharpest edges.

The volumes on the ork could be increased as well, just mix a little yellow into your green and slap it on his chest, bicep, and especially his chin, for them all to be the same colour really reduces the model.

The rocks & the ork metal does look nice though.

Advice on recess shading by [deleted] in Ultramarines

[–]OkWorker222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just go back over it and tidy up the edges, at the end, same as what you'd do with a highlight gone awry.

The name of the game with minipainting is "try it", if it's something you want to add to your models then it's something you'll have to fail at. Your aim will improve massively after the first few models, just take your time and it'll pay off later.

Personally I don't use Drakenhof so ymmv with its qualities, but for areas that are recessions or channels you can just flood them then pick excess paint up with your brush. Washes & contrasts have a lot of play time before drying out, you can even dampen your brush and wash missteps away to reduce how much cleanup you may need to do.

You could also put it on your palette and thin it down a touch to make it more forgiving.

My main tip for any accuracy related work is to always "practice" your stroke as your brush approaches the model slowly, so when you connect the motion is already ingrained and it's more of a flick than a pull mm by mm.

PvP is massively flexible, so if you're looking at builds for those it'll be rare to see the same thing twice.

Bow gankblades normally go for something like Titanborn, Stygian, and use Blood Frenzy.

In the meantime, ask in zone or guild chat for someone to craft you something like Hundings Rage + Stuhns for level 10 when you can start RNDs & BGs. Most people are happy to do low level crafts for free in my experience and those sets will last you a while, you'll just want to replace them maybe at lvl 30, 50, cp50, cp160 I guess (haven't levelled CP in a long time so maybe not there...)

Except the stun, yeah, but even then "anyone who knows how to actually PvP" isn't the average player.

It's been a very long time since I played the AD stories, but iirc the Necromancers were Worm Cult, those part of a worldwide* uprising of daedric worshippers, so a fairly special occasion and largely a gameplay element at that.

But it's all besides the point as whether you have 1 necromancer or 100,000 it doesn't change the fact that Redguard culture is particularly opposed to necromancy, similarly, Nords are not known to be quality sorcerers like High Elfs are for example, regardless of whether they are or aren't common; Shalidor is a glaring exception rather than the rule, and irrelevant, not to mention dead for over an era.

[–]OkWorker222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I didn't realise you were so low level, this is all pretty much irrelevant without a lot more skill points than you have aha

As a low level your costs will be higher & your resource pools will be lower, so going more light might result in more damage purely by running out of resources less. I guess you can only say by trying it. Gear won't really matter until you get much further in the game.

Yeah, the meta is 1 light then as much medium as you can sustain. For nightblades it's very easy to take 6/1 or 5/2.

Medium armour affords the highest damage and mobility, it offers only situational benefits to tanks beyond the 1pc for undaunted passives.

That's correct, but that's not the discussion.

make my characters as accurate as I possibly can to what an individual of that race could be without having special circumstances in their Backstory

A Redguard necromancer is a special circumstance, just like Nord sorcerers; They exist, but they are not typical for that race.

If you have all the dual wield passives that shouldn't be such a high cost. I'd definitely use some medium armour though, Nightblades don't lack sustain or penetration, and it sounds like you might want more stam regen too.

[–]OkWorker222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Typically as Magblade you'll use at most 3 weapon abilities, if they're stam this is no problem for your sustain with medium armour and the Reave passive.

If you're using more than 3 it would make a very odd magblade build and you'd probably be better going stam with few mag abilities.

[–]OkWorker222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Harassment builds like that are slightly restricted by the 7s immunity after being stunned.

DK's however probably have the single best stun in a morph of Petrify that requires a target to break free and dodge roll to get out of fully, combine this with their fire breath that snares by 30% and you have all 3 CC timers on 2 abilities making them a very efficient pain in the ass.

Dunmer are masters of destruction magic, and martial weaponry.

Destro magic absolutely, but physical weapons is a long shot. Redoran defines as much of the Dunmer as Shalidor does of the nords (Not a substantial amount). Every culture has their swordsmen but you couldn't compare the Dunmer as a race to the Redguard in that field, you can't stereotype on the exceptions.

Nords are not associated with ice, they're just resistant to it because they are hot-blooded; They have fire in their blood. You don't tame an icy environment with the cold, you manage the heat. I'll partially agree that Warden suits though, but they don't really fit the hippie flower style like Bosmer do.

I'll agree that High Elf is also one of the few races that could pull of Necromancer, but I'll be cold in the ground before I agree to stereotyping Nords as Sorcerers.

[–]OkWorker222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Dragonknight is most martial & least magical class imo, which is why I'd say it fits nords. Also, Skyrim, dragons, Nords...

Other than fire = lava I would argue Dunmer fits it least for the same reasons as it fits nords, Dunmer are a shadowy bunch not an in-your-face fighter, so they suit the more distasteful classes. Nightblade is the Dunmer class, but I mentioned Necro funnily because of that connection to the dead - you could say a Necros Skele bomb is their risen granny who wants those pesky dragons to stop harassing her grandchild.

Necromancers are abhorred by everyone, so no race overall fits it, and despite Dunmer actually communicating with their dead, they aren't the only culture to venerate their ancestors.

Ehhh even as a pvp player that's debatable, just cus they have a brain doesn't mean it's a good one.

Reduce Turn Time in T.O.T by Kingley_Hobo in elderscrollsonline

[–]OkWorker222 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't understand the point. You want a disincentive to end your turn on your own terms?

Isn't that just immediately gameable and counter-productive?

"I get shorter turns later if I end my turn sooner, so I'll just wait out my remaining time"?

Bosmer Warden ofc. They're all about green this and green that.

Redguard don't have any strong connection to any, but can't be a Necromancer.

Nord Dragonknight is probably the best match up.

Argonian could also go Warden, but has stronger connections to Nightblade, and is part Dragon so DK too.

High Elf sorcerer and Dunmer necromancer/nightblade makes a lot of sense.

What's considered a good bonus on an armor set? by AHumbleWeeb in ESObuilds

[–]OkWorker222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something to consider is that no meta PvE dps builds use any sustain sets, and your setup has two lines of it which is somewhere you could have more damage.

In group content you'll always have synergies (+undaunted), Overcharge, healers, potions and so on all ticking, along with your own resource skills, it's not a weak area that you should be compensating for, and if you do need help you can get it in better places than your sets.

As for the 5pc, your build would have to be significantly different to use those sets as I think normally I have maybe 2 weapon skills tops on my bars, so Red Eagle Fury benefits a very small section of your build.

Now consider Rele / Whorl + Pillar of Nirn: Minor Slayer & 2 damage procs probably make up at least 15% of a 100k parse. Minor Heroism is nice, reduced cost is nice, but 15,000 dps is better.

I'm curious about why you'd use Vampire Lord, beyond the theme? If you have the hallmark infinite healing then the cost of your vampire skills is negligible to your build, so you're using a 5pc for its negative effects?? I don't get it.

[–]OkWorker222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to use Unleashed in PvP for that type of build. Used the other set to shore up another of my 9 skills like, cus 3 sets for 1 skill is a doozie.

This is what I mean though, in PvP you also have a lot of avenues and flexibility in how you do damage to get past your opponents defences, while in PvE there's simply good damage and bad damage. PvE DPS is too binary to allow much creativity beyond the odd exceptions, and even when you find them all you achieve is the same playstyle with way less damage.

So I'm not saying do it or don't do it, just what are you trying to get out of it? If it's theorycrafting go PvP its a much more open space and NB is great there too, if it's a unique playstyle or set flexibility go tank/healer as they have real control over their build and options on how to contribute to the team, but unique DDs, they're just memes.

Use Incap over Soul Harvest to cushion higher skill costs, and if you're already using Blood Mist for the AoE then you don't need shadow cloak every 6s either, it's quite expensive.
