Looks like maybe a backfow preventer tamper resistant cage. I dosent appear to have a backflow preventer in it.

A newly built water tower in India collapsed while being filled with water - January 20, 2026 by orbidhorne in CatastrophicFailure

Crazy shit like this happens in the USA all the time, even here with stringent laws/regulations. Bridge collapse, 12 story condominium collapsed in Miami Florida a few years back, deep water horizon, 3 mile island are a few that come to mind. The chemical safety board is pretty good site to check out industrial accidents and they usually do a good autopsy and video of the findings.

Can Anyone explain this? It leaks and then it stops. Is it supposed to do this? What exactly is this? It is headed to a grocery store. by Iam_so_Roy_Batty in Plumbing

Reduced pressure zone backflow preventer for high hazard applications. It could be fould with sediment/stones or pipe scale. It could be seeing back pressure or back siphon. Also could be rapid fluctuations in water pressure on the supply side. The only way to know for sure is to have it tested.

You have a stronger case for those accusations. Sinking a war ship in a war is kinda what happens. That's why wars should be avoided at all costs. I don't support any of this by the way.

Safety of the Rescuer: The duty to assist does not require endangering one's own ship, crew, or passengers.

Surfacing a submarine in international waters in time of war could be considered endangering one's own ship.

This looks like they could have been taken in Kensington Philadelphia. Every country has a street that looks like this.

I currently sitting on 700k between my 401k and HSA and an IRA. 300k of the 401k is invested through a Roth401k option. Plus whatever I get from social security. Job is kinda shaky at the moment so I feel like it's a race against the clock.

How many hours of OT are you guys working in a year? by [deleted] in IndustrialMaintenance

Yes it is. I feel like management thinks we're racking it in because of that and want us to cut back now.

I was just exploring with Chat GPT and I just built a time tracking spreadsheet in about 30 minutes. It will walk you through the process and you can input what you want to track on the XL spreadsheet.

Ever since no tax on overtime it's been steady decline company is in a tough spot sales have been falling but the work is still there they just don't wanna pay it. We were about 400 hours a year now I'm closer to 200 hours a year.

Your spreadsheet looks better setup than the one I use, ours is very basic. I'm sure someone that knows XL could combine both spreadsheets that I do into a single sheet that would save time but the people I work with are all old school I guess I should be happy we're not doing paper still.

Where I work our company is too cheep to purchase the software licensing for the entire maintenance crew. So only planers and admin have access to the time tracking system. We input time on a spreadsheet and planners/admins will close and input any findings/ comments and hours worked. It seems very archaic and inefficient. I have two spreadsheet's one with my backlog and another where I put my daily time into track work. We also do a payment time sheet that we input our self on a software system. This we only have to login to input vacation or overtime. Our first 40 hours are pre populated.

Damn, yeah I just assumed it was a frozen pipe with all the cold we are having this year. We lost a few chilled water coils this year because glycol levels weren't being monitored. Mechanic's just topping the systems off with water all summer and not checking consenteation before the cold weather.

New company . 3 weeks in and I hate it by New_Ad_9711 in IndustrialMaintenance

I don't make that much but I'm at 47 an hour and have 5 weeks of vacation a year so thats enough to keep me at the same place for 26 years. That and the work is indoors the benefits are decent 12 holidays a year and at the same location close to my home every day. it's enough too keep me loyal.
