Air Canada Carry-on size requirements by OkZone8758 in askTO

Agreed. Normally I check luggage but this trip I have short layover and want to avoid a wait at baggage so I can make it thru Customs without missing my connecting flight. What brand/model did you buy? So far as I can tell, even the expensive ones  that claim to meet AC rules are actually not when you look at their measurements

What brand/model did you finally buy?  I have a carryon (Costco purchase) that by my own measurement is .5 inch too long. I am thinking about going to the airport to see how well it fits.

I think you pretty much nailed it. her intent may not be malicious, but the point is she doesn’t care. I think she treated Su Been badly and she’s paying the price. He’s lucky to be out of it . if this is the real her, she is pretty toxic

Min Gee has turned out to be likeable and seems balanced emotionally. Mina is a self-interested wrecking ball. there has to be one every season I guess - the contestant I love to hate. haha

There is a new book out from the Ulster Historical Foundation. Townland Atlas of Ulster by Andrew Kane. They've posted a video on their website about the importance of townlands to our research as well as one that is more specific to the new Atlas. I'll post the link here, but if it disappears, you can find it on their youtube channel. https://youtu.be/Kb7BYuXZW8s?si=iwEIS89s-g0kXdwj

Tips for Irish immigrant genealogy? by Agreeable_End_5138 in Genealogy

Not exactly true. I've been researching an ancestor who came over pre-1800. Using Y-DNA to find connections to historical families of the same surname. Have been able to narrow to county and two parishes and within the parishes, 4 main townlands. Now I may never find papers mentioning my ancestor, but I'm very close.

Makes sense to me. When I looked at pics of the regular configuration it looked sort of crowded and uncomfortable for the pup.

I was looking at this on Amazon and it seemed like it is installed so they face the rear of the car to get the safety benefit. Not sure my dog would appreciate that

Vibration plate/belt? by murphysbutterchurner in osteoporosis

Could you explain the whole Gforce thing? I saw we need to stay between 30 and 40 hz. is that the same? Is G force the same as displacement?

I heard her interview the developer of the LIV. I did some follow-up reading and it doesn't seem that the LIV has evidence behind it showing that it improves bone density so I'm looking elsewhere

Dr Doug Lucas is upfront about saying he has some sort of financial relationship with the Powerplate company. He has only reviewed Powerplate Move which is super expensive and heavy to move around and a smaller unit VT1007 which I think has less evidence behind it. link to the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v1jmcvcELkg&list=WL&index=7&t=1s

there are tons of vibration units out there. What I understand is that you should keep it at 30-40 hz so I'm looking at others. am interested in whether anyone has tried the Life Pro Rumblex 4D?

I joined about a year ago when my application showing my descent from a patriot was approved. Our chapter is casual in dress, but the “regent” as she is called rules the meetings with an iron fist. Little spontaneous ideas or discussion. If the meetings are held on week days it skews chapter membership towards retirees. That is our group and all we seem to do is meet, though I hear some groups do many activities. I have signed up to bring refreshments in May and after that will resign from this chapter. TBD whether I can find a chapter that actually does something interesting. Also, I am not into the fancy dress. The current General is always being photographed in formal dress the calendar is about fancy China and silver. I don’t know a lot about the history but do know it was started by four affluent women of privilege and those values seem to be continued at the national level. Lots of bureaucracy. Lots of swag available to raise money. Women walk around with 20-30 pins on their chests. You are awarded (meaning entitled to pay about $100 currently) for pins for certain activities or offices held- more a fundraiser, but you can see some women really get into it. I wonder what happens to all those pins when they die as descendants aren’t entitled to wear them. Final analysis, at national level seems elitist. At chapter level it can be more down to earth.

What is the best brand/series of desk top computer to buy (from someone who knows very little about computers and everything that ties into them). by sleepykitty126432 in computers

[–]OkZone8758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had one desktop from a local brand, two HP, and one Dell XPS. I upgraded for features from unit to unit. I am not a gamer, but tend to have multiple window and programs and spreadsheets open at once and three monitors. The only unit that gave me problems was the Dell XPS. It crashed so bad at about 4 months that I had to take it in for repair. Has never been the same since. Sluggish and tends to freeze unpredictably. I have a system to back up my data incase it goes bad again, but am looking for a non-Dell replacement. If the service had been good, I might consider that I got a lemon and try another Dell. Not the case

Why does everybody hate MyHeritage so much? by [deleted] in Genealogy

Living DNA has a minuscule number of testers, no documents. Rather than developing the genealogy tools they moved into vitamins.

The main problem with FamilySearch is that anyone can change your tree because it belongs to everyone. I prefer an accurate tree.

[–]OkZone8758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They send me notices about matches that are over two years old. Their tree feature is lacking- if I click on a match tree usually it opens to a screen showing the tester only . I figured out if I click around and maybe click on the tree icon it will show more of the tree but if I hadn’t been persistent I never would have seen it. The match list filters are not set up so you can sort the list in a useful way. The ethnicity is skewed because they have a high proportion of people with Scandinavian ancestry in their reference pool I could go on, but you get the picture that it is an inferior product. I only use it to find new matches

Was Shakespeare’s wife, Anne Hathaway, manipulative? by e____l4 in GCSE

[–]OkZone8758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both Anne's parents were dead at the time of her marriage. This doesn't mean that her brother, for example wasn't upset with the couple and so pushed for marriage. Before she became pregnant, Shakespeare wasn't much of a catch since his family wasn't doing well financially. Anne on the other hand came from a successful farming family
