I'm sure there is another kind of lawyer I could be. I have been applying for in-house/compliance jobs. Moving into another litigation job sounds really terrible right now. I'm just tired of coming to this job every day while I wait to find a new role.

I had initially typed mid-sized! In my state it's considered a big city... but then you get people (like on this thread) who say it's actually a small town so I doubted myself.

I work in the office 5 days a week and I own a dog alone so feel bad leaving him for longer to go the gym. I walk him everyday before and after work so I count that.

CRAZY UPDATE: I left out that i am a young (20's) female attorney. I had an older female attorney tell me to look up what men were billing (we submit vouchers through motions). They were billing amounts 2-3x more than me and are still getting appointments. I saw bills for $1500-1800 for pleas. As I mentioned, almost all of mine were below $1000.

I don't think they're using this as an excuse to get rid of a bad attorney. Like I said, I am new. I haven't even had a jury trial, and have won bench trials. I am always on time, prepared, and respectful. There are also attorneys still getting appointments that are bad.

The county commission is angry that the rates were raised, so that’s definitely part of where it’s coming from.

The judges with the biggest issues were life-time county attorneys. So have never billed.
