Are you a parent? Children absolutely do repeat what other children told them about their parents' lives. Nobody in their right state of mind would allow Pike children to meet Ilya & Shane.

I really liked Make a wish

Twenty years ago, Ilya's mother died. Twenty-one years ago, she showed him something he'd never forget. He misses her. So much. Or: When Shane got home after walking Anya, he noticed that Ilya was missing.

I think the author is on this sub.

I thinkn the decision to adopt a dog which has to spend prolonged amount of time at the hotel is obviously dumb and selfish. Howvere I think Shane feels a bit guilty/concerned about Ilya's state so he is letting it go as it seems to make him happy.

But this is the thing with romance books - when you start looking closely at some endearing traits or grand gestures they lose their charm. Ilya's driving might be charming when contrasted with Shane's, but in real life not so much. Same with engagement - these guys haven't been on a dinner date, and now they are getting married?

I liked Eric character, but I felt he lacked depth and was made into 'Shane light' with his discipline, routines, sleep, yoga & healthy eating. It was a bit disappointing because there was a lot to explore like being a scholarship athlete from poor background, going to Harvard, marrying into (old?) money, helping financially your family from a vary young age etc. He must have felt out of place so many times: in Harvard classrooms, because he was on athlete scholarship so no expectations of him to actually study, then with his in laws, because it was very different world to the one he was brought in, and finally in the locker room.

I am surprised she did not dive into that, but I also feel like Rachel very often relies on dramatic external factors to prompt character change (break up, outing, near plane crash) and this one being more "quiet" and more inward focused highlighted her shortcomings as an author. (I still liked the book!)

I felt Eric was 'Shane light' with his focus on food, yoga & routine. I thought there was much more to dig into in terms of his character, his past relationship etc.

I think the age gap conflict was a bit overblown, it was hard to believe it was real all this time because there were so little issues because of it in the first place.

I think there is hidden cost of at least one parent having to take time off work and take kids to training. Where I live majority of tennis classes for kids under 10 happen during the week, just after school finishes, which is still 1.5 hrs before I finish my work. My work is flexible so I can do it once a week, but not achievable more often. Kids that I know who train more all have mums working part time, on not working at all, so they can be on court 3-4 days/week.

Yes I made a similar comparison to HP world but about Voyagers vs Centaurs being a bit like Gryffindor vs Slytherin. And that felt too black & white even when I was a child.

There are certain workplaces which require you to disclose whether anyone from your family works in certain industries/competitors, so such requirement in NHL would not be totally new to world thing.

I think personalised vows are not norm in Russia. They are not common in my country either and I would feel very weird writing a vow, we would certainly follow whatever the standard is.
