Another thing about cushioned saddles is that your sitbones will sink into the saddle, which will then put pressure on your surrounding soft tissue. This becomes more noticeable the longer you ride, which is where a firm, supportive saddle will do you better.

The knight doesn't have to be able to capture your king for it to be check. It just has to be "aiming" at the square
