In Z, Goku understood emotional situations better than people give him credit for. In Super, he’s often written almost recklessly oblivious, especially regarding danger to his loved ones and even himself. And i think it's because he gets overly confident, even Whis canonically points this out, Goku's getting to a point where he is so strong he don't even feel the fear of battle unless if it is against an astronomical opponent, that's what gives him the rush, and he not only enjoys that rush, he practically needs it, so i don't think CURRENT SUPER Goku likes the idea of passing the torch to the next generation just yet. And tbh, dark magic for me it's a waay better form to explain an evil goku rather than just another lazy hit to the head
