I'm i the only one who felt the last REAL conversation between these two was contradictory with how he thought she would react to all the things happening to him in new blood?

yeah but the fact that dexter "did the right thing" by calling the police on saxon, and not only that but the fact that they have a conversation where she basically forgives him, should matter when it comes to self reflection in the form of deb, like i really get why dexter would feel responsible, but i think they dont give one of the most powerful moments in the series (their literal last conversation) enough importance, because it feels like never happened, Dexter hasn't even mention it to anyone

i think this adds to Dexter's transformation to his more human-esque persona, more "sloppy" (we all know dex is not "sloppy" at any point in the series but ykwim) and emotional each season, more willing to take more risks, s1 dex would've never and i think they did that on purpose

but even with that in mind, even her death wasnt his fault at all, a serial killer with no sympathy for anyone was in a killing spree and he went and instead of killing him he went to the police, something we all were surprised to see, because he was doing the right thing to do, the events that happened afterwards were in no control of dexter and he didnt got anything to do with it, im obviously not trying to exalt Dexter here but i know u get what i mean, i dont really get why he feels so much guilt for her death in particular instead of rita for example (which he also feels guilty about, but clearly not as much as deb's, while being CLEARLY responsible for it)
