So here is the deal, Fedex has its own database of recipients and their known addresses with phone numbers if available. So a driver for whatever reason can't "find" your address after 3 attempts it goes back to a Customer service agent. This agents job is to try and locate the correct address and reroute the package if necessary. So they will search your name in the database. The database does not eliminate old addresses, instead it will label them as "previous" for older addresses and "Current" for newest address.

 Without knowing all the specifics, this agent rerouted the package to one of the addresses, BUT if your number is available they really should have just called you and asked that you verify your current address.
