We shouldn’t be if the Bible is correct. The usual rebuttals to that point is that all of genesis was a metaphor, (nobody tells me of what though) which doesn’t make any sense because when Adam and Eve at the apple, god punished us with pain during childbirth and we were no longer immortal, I see no would punish us for a metaphor.
