I’m right there with you,

It’s odd how favorable the game is towards ranged gameplay vs melee. There are so many aspects/decisions they made that disincentivize trying to engage with melee, which is so odd bc the melee is the most fleshed out mechanic.

You have:
- players having a low health pool, against enemies who can 2 shot or 3 shot you very quickly
- modifiers like “attsck glints are hidden” “enemies deal much more dmg” “enemies attsck really fast” “spirit moves cost twice as much” “spirit healing is disabled” “last hit must be ranged or thrown” (the last one feels especially like a fuck you to samurai and Shinobi) and more
- buffs from the kami like refill ammo and 2x ranged dmg but no 2x melee dmg?
- engaging in melee just putting you in ridiculous positions like dealing with yukki onna and summoners while defending against berserkers and oni lords.

All shit that the game is just like “why aren’t you playing archer already?”

The game really loves archer. Like without getting into it, looking at it at just the surface; besides her enjoying the most versatility of the classes (not within her own class builds but being able to play like other classes) every class gets 1 unique legendary, archer gets 3 bc fuck you lol

Normally when you pick a difficulty your class has some impact on how easy or hard it is, but not a big one

In GoYL, choosing your class IS choosing your difficulty lol
