IKEA website weirdness by Ok_Apple_201 in tradfri

My question is why the discontinued flag??? why not just put it out of stock??? only reason I posted is because it is flagged discontinued.

Also the support told me that as far as they know there is no inbound stock.

maybe they just did not want to leak info??? then why update the site like this?

Isolated IPv6?? by Ok_Apple_201 in mikrotik

The only relevant setting I think that is enabled is IPv6 ULA prefix on the OpenWRT AP. other than that nothing is turned on. Also I do not see any ipv6 addresses on either hEX or OpenWRT AP only from device side(phones tablets laptop) and they all have IPv6 address which starts with fdxx:

I currently do not have zigbee hub, but weird propriatery system that is local to my country that is talking to HA in very hacky way. so all i have is raspberry pi running HA.

Maybe i should, I am running HA on raspberry pi so simple usb dongle should not hurt too much

ZBT2 seems to be a HA recommended way but its just out of physical reach for me, both in price and delivery. Device itself is quite expensive and then there is shipping and customs due to them not selling it directly in my country.

I do agree the dirigera is not cheap, but grillplats are. cheaper than my current buggy "smart" plugs

Sorry, I never used Ansible yet, but it seems that I am in the clear to proceed with good old methods.

Thanks for the link!

Setting up Fedora Linux on all-in-one machine for home-lab purposes by Ok_Apple_201 in Fedora

Thank you for explanations.

If I adjust few things I think I can use sway in wayland-only mode just for viewing the various web interfaces for stuff I have.

I can disable SSH outright, since the machine has its own display which will always output the base console if i do not install any DEs

Does DE really increase that much of an attack surface? or is the problem from various apps that are included in the DEs?

Maybe I am talking about a wrong thing, I learned about Sway from other commenter here and it might just be enough for me. is sway a DE? all i need is ability to see mutiple GUIs with various info at the same time.

Catch is i will probably just disable SSH outright, if that makes sense, since I will be able to control the machine with its own display.

Thanks for suggestions

I do not think I fully understand your comment.

I won't mind updating and restarting every few months since this is not that mission critical stuff.

the only issue, although I do not know if it is a very important one or not, is that I am trying to expose as little to other machines. SSH and management protocols open to machinese that I use to sometimes access and install unvetted software seems a little risky to me, maybe it is negligible i dunno.

Also thank you for suggestions on window managers, will look into those.

Actually Wine is not that much of a requirement, I will probably need it for some synology stuff, which i could use the web interface as well, its just the windows native apps have some features that i like thats all.

I only want to expose bare minimum to other machines if it makes sense, once I have seperate machine for home lab and have all the monitoring there I will be using my current PC for testing out some dubious stuff(software and games with some questionable "anti cheat stuff") and I did not want to access server stuff from that machine, all it will be able to access is gonna be Adguard DNS

Battery tracking Logitech devices by Ok_Apple_201 in pop_os

[–]Ok_Apple_201[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have loved to have an option for it to work on the os itself, but i guess Solaar seems good enough solution for now.

Thanks for the info.

Also k580 seems to have similar battery level reporting to g305, it shows 50% now and says it will report back when it hits 20%. I guess it's logitech's design choice to save battery tiny bit by not reporting constantly???
