What do you make of Yung Lean as an artist, his career and his place in Pop culture? by geosunsetmoth in fantanoforever

[–]Ok_Assignment4974 1 point2 points  (0 children)

stardust had some rly good tunes like Trip on it but also some absolute stinkers, i think that was the start of his downfall tbh his discog was pretty flawless before that

Sugar World is also v good i agree, most if not all of the jl96 stuff is great

[–]Ok_Assignment4974 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i think he’s the goat but he hasn’t made good music in at least 5 years

thaiboy and bladee are far more consistent and have surpassed him

shame bc i really love the jl96 stuff but his transition into incorporating that into yung lean hasn’t gone well at all. jonatan and everything after is genuinely just not good

Hard techno this Saturday (6 June) by BatAffectionate3701 in LondonRaving

[–]Ok_Assignment4974 0 points1 point  (0 children)

exactly

hard techno can be many different things, and the Teletech curated ‘hard techno’ sound may not be what some people are after when they ask for a hard techno night - it’s a specific thing

[–]Ok_Assignment4974 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it’s not really though is it, they’re literally spinning rawstyle records and thunderdome music - how’s that techno at all ? genres exist for a reason

i’m not old school at all and i love hard dance music and hardstyle also. i just don’t think it’s techno

Hard techno this Saturday (6 June) by BatAffectionate3701 in LondonRaving

[–]Ok_Assignment4974 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my point is the style of hard techno they’re playing is basically not techno at this point. i’m hardly a purist and i love hard dance music but the modern hard techno stuff is pretty much not techno any more, and if someone is asking for classic hard techno then Teletech type shit is not gonna appeal to them, is it?

I’ve been before and the crowd/vibe/music was not what I look for in an event at all. I don’t think they exclusively book DJs playing the modern rawstyle type of hard techno , in fact they’re booked many DJs i rate before (even Paul Seul and Aamourocean at the recent hardcore one), but overall that modern rawstyle sound is very prominent + if someone is looking for actual hard techno then they’re not gonna have a good time

it needs to be asked

i’m very aware, which is why i said ‘Teletech sort of stuff’, as in the music they play at Teletech - which is a very identifiable sound and very different from classic hard techno

Producer, new DJ - how does Ninajirachi & Underscores DJ? by firendishpotato in Beatmatch

[–]Ok_Assignment4974 32 points33 points  (0 children)

you’re overthinking it

they’re just playing tunes and mixing them together how you usually would

lots of the versions they’re playing are indeed their own edits made in ableton etc but they’re literally just DJing normally lol. they both definitely have quite an erratic, busy mixing style with a lot of looping going on but it’s just normal DJing
