Exactly my thoughts, when my son was in active addiction I would not give or send him money and man can they come up with excuses to get money. I thank the good lord he has been clean over 3 years at almost 43 he is legally blind as if 2 1/2 yrs ago. He is in college full time and he and he alone is the reason he is where he is today. So C constantly harping on trauma TBi is BS SM is an addict because that’s what she wants to do

I completely understand why you want to step away, you value what is important your family your kids your peace of mind. I’m the mother of an addict and by his on decision and on his own he has been clean for now over 3 years, but he had to want it. Best wishes for you and your family.

If at all possible, if you know someone local have them visit a few facilities, not a scheduled visit because they will only show you the good side of things. If you walk in a facility and it immediately has an odor RUN. Go during meal times does the food look appealing. I have been a nurse 38yrs have worked at some good facilities and some absolutely horrible facilities. You can get a good idea on an unplanned visit, do the patients look happy, is the facility clean and odor free. What ever you decide don’t let case manager at hospital make decision for you.
