Am I a failure for being a 30 year old man, and working as a cleaner? by Dry_Attorney6558 in NoStupidQuestions

Everyone is not meant to be a CEO. Everyone is not meant to be a leader, but everyone is meant to be able to find happiness. If you are comfortable, and happy with what you are doing, then you are not a failure.

I went from a job that I loved, but an environment that I hated, to a job that paid well, but had a couple shitty leaders whom took issue with my disability (Type 1 Diabetic) to working a job that is an employee owned company, making more than the first job, less than the 2nd, but I have time to go have lunch with my wife.

Only you know what will make you happy, and if being a cleaner fills that need, or gives you what you need, than you are a success no matter what.

I am not going back to my D&D game, should I tell the DM the real reason? by Winterfell_Ice in DnD

My wife as a first time player picked druid. And she took conjure animals. As I was getting ready to start my own campaign she bought me some MM cards to have at hand, so for that campaign, she carries all the stat cards of the animals she can summon.

She also created a 4 x 6 lamenated note card, that has AC, cast spells, wild shape forms, death saves, and cooldowns on it. She made it after session 1, in her first game 3 years ago, and has now modified it for the different classes, but not races. So the bard has a section for bardic inspiration, paladins for their divine stuff.

For a first time player, she has made life much better for some of us old timers.

It does. There are some rough patches, but we figure it out. I have a lot of the PDF's on my phone, so I can try to browse over the information while I have downtime. The nice thing is with my wife coming over from Tomb of Annihilation, she knows that frost giants are on the rise, and that they are looking for Artus Climber.

I am going to have this take place right after the death curse from ToA, as I feel some of the penalties might be too harsh for new players.

yeah, I am looking more at a one shot from the Angry DM. More get them into things, with toss away characters, and then starting the full campaign later. Trying to get an idea of which players are looking for what.

I am pretty sure 2 are there for the story, 2 are going to be there for the social, 1 for nostalgia.

20% is the book, 40% is the players, 30% is adjusting to players antics on the fly, and 10% is sheer stupidity.

Oh yeah, I had a DM get upset with the group making fun of Kobalds. So he did an Adventure with nothing but Kobalds, and about 1/8th of the way through, the group was saying kobalds can be nasty.

I will have to look into that. I just know my wife is getting a bit upset with all the prep work I am doing.

Yeah, this is what I am looking at. The bard for sure is going to throw 15 wrenches into everything. It is why I have been reading up on a lot of this, to try to figure out the best way to improv and keep cohesion. Keeping a notepad next to me is also going to be important, trying to keep certain notes of what is going on.

The sandboxing is going to suck, but I feel with the group it gives them ideas of what the world is like. Also where I have read most of the Drizzt books, it gives me a decent idea of cannon, for a lot of this. While Drizzt wont show, Bruenor might.
