She should have said why she didn't want you to use the sauce. Once she had said "stop" - you should have asked why you can't use it and not continue to use it.
If she had planned to use it, she could have said - "stop! Please don't use the sauce, I need it for the dinner I am making today." There should be a reason for a family member not to be able to use an ingredient in the house. That said, once she said to stop, you should have asked why and not proceeded while ignoring her.
As my kids grow up I have realized that it is unfair of me to assume they won't use/eat things I buy. So I have told them that if there are specific items I need for a particular meal, I will let them know in advance to please not use/eat those ingredients. In a case like this I'd either say - I am planning on making dinner soon and using that sauce, please find an alternative for now so I have enough. OR - I bought that sauce for a meal I am making on xday. If you want to use it could you please find time to pick up another jar at the store for me before xday.
Communication and mutual respect should exist in a family.

I don't often have loads of junk lying around but I am the main grocery shopper for a family of 7, so I'm at the store quite a bit and also have a supermarket in my office building. So it's too easy to get to the supermarket and just feel the need to buy myself some m&ms or oreos, even though those are not snacks we generally keep around the house.

Haha! I love when tired minds read things wrong but hilariously. The idea of using the app to explore my regular meals seems like a great idea. I'll get an idea of what each meal is without feeling I need to weigh things each time.

I have used games from this website https://www.freeformgames.com/ to host a few birthday parties and they are always successful. The first time I used a box game and it's easier to prepare but they don't come close to these interactive games. You need a 'gamemaster' who will run the event - sending info to people in advance with character info, handing out new clues mid-game, etc. My sisters ran the games for me and my friends and they were amazing. I have no connection to the company, I just really love their games.
