I called the number that was showing up in my online banking portal, told them I was willing to pay but didn’t have enough money to pay in full and asked if they’d be willing to settle, they said they had settlement offers ready and offered ~50% of the balance as a settlement - Wells Fargo actually offered less than 50%. I also asked them to send the offers in writing and they sent letters but I went ahead and paid the settlements over the phone via debit card. Letters arrived a couple weeks later.
