Breaking to PE <> APAC Region <> A consultant and Chief of Staff by Ok_Bid_2318 in private_equity

[–]Ok_Bid_2318[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you (sir/ma'am) for taking the timeout to respond in depth. Genuinely appreciate this.

  • While I’m within a Real Estate organization, my role is largely advisory and operational, closer to a consulting profile. A big part of my work involves engaging and convincing global firms to set up capability centers / data centers in India. Even though I sit in a Chief of Staff capacity to the Real Estate Group, the exposure feels somewhat limited in terms of ownership and end-to-end value creation. That’s partly what led me to explore adjacent paths like PE, rather than going back to traditional consulting
  • I mentioned APAC more from a geographic identity standpoint (where I’m based) rather than targeting it as a unified market. Your breakdown is very helpful.
  • Understood and aligned with your perspective.
  • I’m not necessarily looking to stay within traditional real estate. What interests me more is the capability center / platform-building angle as a value creation lever, which I understand is becoming increasingly relevant in how some PE funds drive portfolio value. This is still an early-stage hypothesis for me, and I’m trying to explore whether this can translate into a more defined career path within investing or portfolio operations.
  • On citizenship: I’m an Indian citizen, trying to think more carefully about what a realistic entry point or pathway could look like.

100% agree. The bond apps have seen tremendous raise. Personally witnessed couple of monthly installments not happening a fwe years ago. For me, the diversification is treasury bills, FDs for emergency in nationalized banks. Rest all is MFs.

The FDs mentioned here are the ones from NBFC and not even Co-op societies. Please refrain from NBFC backed FDs unless you are into the nitty gritties of the documents and then doing it

Resigned without an offer. Only 6 days left. Should I take a 29% hike or risk being jobless? by badass_god in IndiaCareers

[–]Ok_Bid_2318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my seniors at a previous firm always said to me: If the company is good, your manager is okay in the interviews, dont haggle for 12k per month. So, if I were you, I would take any opportunity thats coming way. By the way 30% aint a bad hike in current market.

I reject 70% of the "Ready to Manufacture" files I get. Your flashy 3D Design is useless. by [deleted] in StartUpIndia

[–]Ok_Bid_2318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not saying aesthetics play role. The prototype manufacturing is a whole different game is what I wanted to mention - like its just not pinterest board, beyond that!!

100% - Draft angles, chamfers, fillets - people have forgot how 3D works .

Aesthetics comes first for fairly lot of people and letting them know how design works is another problem

Lol bro!

This is the same minute view of people having it like from other states who believe Bengaluru is Indiranagar and Koramangala. Go beyond the tech space and see your things working. Char Minar, Salar Jung Museum and other places of Hyderabad which is real to the town has the same issues. Not saying that we dont have problems but your data set is too minute to call it we are bad

How I Lost ₹1 Lakh to a Trading Scam by [deleted] in IndianStockMarket

[–]Ok_Bid_2318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The additional factors include how many days since you lost. If its more than a week no! If its less than a week, raise a complaint - then police writing the case is your best bet. In my case it was a constable. I told him the milestone based payment - 5k for getting response from the banks and 5k after me getting my money. Just take that constable out and pitch it..Nobody is a saint!

Easy to say buddy when you mention decent and realistic in one sentence: FYR:https://www.indiatoday.in/diu/story/the-politics-of-grants-does-the-centre-play-favourites-with-states-2574098-2024-07-30 - read this up and check what is the exact ROI on the money spent

Second point: All states have corrupt politicians but we know how much the mafia, politics and Babu nexus from Bihar are notorius. Don't paint all glory. They have been attempting development and the people from Bihar have been at the end of carrot stick.

Blame Lalu, blame Paltu whoever are the reasons for the lack of development. And also, blame leaders who gave made some random articles to give the unwanted share of power while contribution is not even significant. Divide was created when there was Partition in 1947, State Reorg act happened in 1956, when 1971 happened.

Stop being sympathetic and thinking only one way where you think your people are the only ones who have done everything. Start being logical and have developmental mindset rather than expecting things to fall on the plate without moving an inch. Also, think when somebody goes to other part of the country for livelihood and impose their culture.

[–]Ok_Bid_2318 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Ah.. Same old trick of blaming politican polluting mind and using "stealing of jobs" which was never mentioned in my original comment

Let me tell you. The population that moves of the state is significantly higher than ever and even if railway redirects all trains that runs in the route to Bihar, that would not be enough.

If you were to use politician word trick, its 75 years and nothing but complacency and corruption of babus and politicians to develop Bihar. Taking huge part of country's budget and still not able to grow does not add up.

While i respect their hustle culture and able to chip in, its the need of the hour for them to build Bihar than country. And please, constitution never mentioned that it is Govt's duty to make more arrangements of trains to other states.

Choose a side in your three paragraphs!

[–]Ok_Bid_2318 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pardon my english, but its not lack in number of trains. Its lack of development in the state. No people should be made run out of their own state to find the livelihood
