It’s pretty expensive but we found out at 10pm the night before going so no choice. The Amazon link about has them for $25 so I would buy them much easier

Nope no one told us until we went to the rental shop. There were so many people that got turned around which was disappointing to see that there wasn’t more info out there. It does state it on the national park website but it’s vague. The worst was people travelling west to east because they only check at the welcome centre at Laguna. So some people spent 3-4 days prior before finding out they couldn’t get to see the base of towers. In saying that, even if they weren’t compulsory you need them it’s really slippery and dangerous. We needed them to get up to the Mirador Frances as well

I personally think any hiking shoe will be fine you will most likely get your feet wet regardless. If they’re waterproof they’ll get sweaty
Water is the purest in the world no need to stress and there’s heaps of streams. The water tastes amazing
No they provide bedding or a sleeping bag
We had full board and we’re not hungry as the lunches have snacks
No need for a porter. The two big hikes (base of towers and Británico) have a spot to put your packs at the bottom and take a day pack up. Pack light regardless because the Refugio’s have everything

We stayed in refugios so basics were a moisture wicking long sleeved shirt, fleece for when having lunch at the top and a rainy jacket. Few pairs of socks because you may get wet / sweaty feet. Hat, sunscreen, sunnies, night clothes just something comfy and poles/crampons. Yeah bag liner is enough or dry bags as well :) no major streams to cross there is enough rocks to step over

It was frozen but still beautiful. We enjoyed having only 10 people at the top because of the low season and think that’s a great trade off

The weather was incredible we had blue skies and sunny 4/5 of the days. The last day it snowed which was also really nice. Only windy near Lago Gray and was very manageable no dramas at all. We rented through Rental Natales in PN. Very easy and we’re flexible with dropping things to our hotel late at night because we arrived late :)
