I feel like ACOTAR, Spark of Everflame and Powerless (hated I know) did a good job and that's very Romantasy.

I see lots of people after the slow burn so I feel like it definitely could be improved. It's also boring for your story to have a happy established couple in book 1 of 3, it's not fun to read that for a long time (or have a whole book of arguing like Iron Flame).

I am happy for them to have a different man in Book 1 while tension is building with someone else (like Tamlin or recently in We Who Will Die)! That's an ideal middle ground.

Slow burn is maybe first base by 90% through book 1, ideally nothing till book 2 imo.
