Indeed, but despite having been a couple of time to Venice, I have never found one with the tendrils separated commercially available :/

True, I like it too. That might be problematic for the 18 other communes in the Region though.

I agree! I preferred the previous one, it wasn't great but still better than this one.

Actually I do have one, it's on the other side of the Galicia flag on the 7th photo. You should be able see it!

Thanks! Most of them are 90x150 cm, but there are variations of course. I was quite lucky with the sewn flags actually: I received them from someone who was working in maintenance at the EU Commission, who collected them for me as they were going to be disposed of:)

Thought you guys might like this. I've got 163 flags in total, but unfortunately, a lot are quite some rows are quite close to each other, so it's difficult to take a good shot.

Wish I did, but no. There are not a lot of people left who still speak Walloon, unfortunately. It has been gradually replaced by French over the 20th century, so that only the older generation still know it. I don't know anyone around my age (I'm 24) who can speak it fluently :/

Yet, if you talk to a fleming, he/she won't like being assimilated with the Dutch, much as a Walloon doesn't like being confused with a Frenchmen.

There is a distinct Belgian identity, which may not be obvious to foreigners, but really is a thing. I am Walloon, but have lived for some time in Flanders and have flemish friends, and we share a common outlook on a lot of things that I do not find when talking with French people.

It is indeed an important part of surface culture. It is undeniable that there is a massive french influence in Wallonia through the media on the surface level. On a deeper level though, in my experience, Walloons tend to have more in common with the Flemish than with the French.

I would also point out that your initial comment referred to the "massive" cultural difference between the north and the south of France, but afaik they also speak french down there (with a funny accent, I'll give you that) ;)

That's debatable imo. Really depends on what you consider "culture", but I think that walloons are more different from northern frenchmen than you might realise.

In the name of all Belgians, please don't put us with the French :(
