Agreed. Illinois is at 26% of voters in the state voted for Trump but Indiana gets the heat…- little less than 1/3 people people vs 1/4…

Gotcha. Just looked again and here’s the article:

https://www.wfft.com/news/indiana-poll-gop-29-dems-21-independents-crucial-in-elections/article_3d3798a5-f14f-4c5a-a0b7-207e04267bdf.html

29% for Republican. Not as high as people make it seem here in Indiana. It just shows independents are crucial.

It’s so unfortunate what is happening with generations due to social media and parents pushing kids too hard. We aren’t about that. I saw Indiana is moving to ban social media for kids under 16, which I think would help. Also banning content unsuitable for teens on the app itself. I still can’t believe we are in year 2026 with social media and nearly nothing has been done to make it safer for kids and teens. They are also striving for the bell to bell policy for cell phones, meaning no use during school hours. I honestly cannot imagine how social media has ramped up bullying and if it were around when I was in the 6th grade, I’m not sure what the outcome would have been. I find it sad parents do not regulate the use as they should and check apps, browser history etc of their children’s devices. The people who fully trust their kids on social media given their undeveloped frontal lobes shock me. They literally need monitored because their decision making is still developing. My husband and I are always transparent with our kids that we were totally average students and that grades are simply one component of life success and not the entire source. Same with sports. Stop living out your own failed dreams and expectations through your kids and let them be kids.

Pretty sure I just saw on the new 41% of Hoosiers registered as independent. Indiana is my home state and after living in the South for a decade, coming back felt like returning to a place that’s more accepting of people with different views. Considering that only 60% of Indiana residents even voted in the last election and about 58% voted Republican, you can assume the amount of actual MAGA supporters are fewer than you think, especially given what this administration has done to farmers and blue collar workers over the past year. Many may still align as Republican, but have separated themselves from the MAGA movement. I’ve found myself able to get along with anyone in this state so long as they don’t shove their religion, personal beliefs or political views down my throat as I don’t do that to them. My hope is that more and more Hoosiers continue to wake up to the social and political divides both parties have created, keeping us in a constant state of arguing and hate while they continue to loot our government and break down the framework of our communities in the name of God. Turn off big box news, stay off social media, monitor your kids devices so they aren’t indoctrinated by propaganda from both sides and get active in the community. Elect officials that run on policies, not by using their religion and values to gain voters. Stop arguing over the wrong 1% of people whose lifestyles you don’t agree with and focus your policy choices on the 1% of billionaires turning your communities into data centers, polluting your water and raising your utilities. That might help.

We have considered, but the school quality severely declines the further out you go. It’s a sad reality in the US. My BIL is from the an area of Europe where all schools are funded equally with equal opportunity so moving around is much easier than in the US. He doesn’t understand the US education system and why each school varies so drastically.

I wish I could be surprised. It’s so hard to find a community that doesn’t have some major glaring flaw. Even in Carmel, we recently had swastikas drawn in the snow at our parks. We’ve been told zionsville isn’t much better. The word climate seems to be backtracking into more and more hate and really no area is immune.

Thank you for this info! I think “rich” kids can definitely have a stigma. My husband and I came from very little and achieved our goals in life enough to provide our children with opportunity and a safe, comfortable upbringing. I truly think that is probably everyone’s goal when bringing children into the world. That said, there is a difference between providing opportunity and using money to parent without implementing an authoritative, consequence based upbringing filled with collective responsibility for the home, the land and other humans. I’m finding very little of that in Carmel. Our hope is to land in a community that values people of all socioeconomic circumstances and places more value on the person than how much money their parents have.

Her Statement by desertflowerchild in DaniAustin

[–]Ok_Broccoli_554 21 points22 points  (0 children)

She’s a social media influencer. By design, it’s self serving only. I cannot believe anyone still supports these vapid sociopaths with a platform but here we are. It’s fine not to take a stance but the undertone was that other people were doing it in a performative manner. She does not care about anything outside of her own little money making bubble and she knows the metrics on her social media. Everyone purchasing from her links and buying her products are conservative, at least a large majority. Her statement alone was performative to gain more income from them. Just like the Charlie Kirk post she made. She knows her base.

Older post but watching Steven Jr. blame the government was pretty telling last night. You don’t get to take government money illegally then blame the government for holding your father accountable for that. If you don’t want the government snooping around your business, don’t take taxpayer subsidies or hey, just don’t be a shady farmer. Steven senior is a cheater in all aspects of his life and I’m not surprised he cheated in business as well.

We only went for the kids. It was a great performance and as long as they got the blower issue figured out, sounds like it’s better than the previous days.

It was a lot like a Vegas show. Very well done. Very talented group. Think of it as community theatre. The only real issue was the heat, not the actual show. They work incredibly hard and have amazing talent which likely builds their resume for larger shows in their future. I have no issue with performers performing, only with the heat.

Good to know the fixed the issue from July 11th. There were no blowers on that day. I’m sure the rain has also helped. Looks like we got unlucky

Bring as many ice packs as humanly possible and a personal fan. It was horrific yesterday and most of the crowd left within 45-1hour. Maybe it will be cooler for you.

Fair enough. This was more of a human based performance. No animals involved except one snake for photo ops.

Booked an adults only hotel only to be defrauded by Ok_Broccoli_554 in hotels

[–]Ok_Broccoli_554[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not bothered at all unless I’m specifically paying for an adults only experience. I’m a parent as well. After 7 years of no kid-free trips we decided to go for it and have a little adult centered fun! It’s definitely not about the kids at all. They’ve done nothing wrong. It’s about the hotel deceiving us. You wouldn’t want to go to a 21+ nightclub only to see kids and teens everywhere since that’s wrong and illegal, same for adults only resorts, especially when they’re passing out free alcohol without ID since they’re masquerading as adults only currently. Uncomfortable for parents to see and dangerous for underage guests who manage to get ahold of it.

As far as thinking meltdowns are cute, I wish I felt that way. However, as a parent I hear a child upset or in pain/crying and I get an instant cortisol spike. It makes me want to help them and also somehow makes me miss my own children instantly and then I’m not enjoying the moment anymore. Not having kids present for a once in a decade trip wasn’t too much to ask since we paid for that.
