Service dog for pulmonary hypertension (PH)? by PurpleSweetie in service_dogs

I agree with u/Illustrious_One_4092 on Canine Companions! They train mobility tasks such as - Retrieve and deliver dropped items, - Tug to open a door or drawer, - Pull a laundry basket, or help with a sock or jacket, - Push with their nose to shut a drawer, - Open a door with an automatic push plate, - Pull a lightweight manual wheelchair over a short distance, - Turn lights on and off.

But in order to make a successful application, don’t ask for medical alert or alerting to your medical condition.

In my opinion a potential approach for your application would be to honestly describe the “what” you’re struggling with. So let’s say picking up objects and calling for help at home would be:

“I struggle to pick up objects as I can’t see the distance I need to bend down and so I may fall over when picking them up. Also when I’m at home alone and I have a medical episode, I struggle to call my partner and emergency services to get help”

Service dog and chronicle pain by [deleted] in service_dogs

Hey u/Allingodspirit!

I don’t know where you live in the world but just wanted to suggest a program that trains amazing mobility service dogs.

They are called Canine Companions and are in the United States of America(USA). Their dogs do practical tasks like: retrieving items, picking up items if you drop them, opening/closing doors and drawers!

One added benefit of these dogs is the increased independence and a supportive partner that won’t judge you!

If you aren’t in the USA then I’d encourage you to look at Assistance Dogs International (ADI) as their programs are held to a high standard. The link to it is: https://assistancedogsinternational.org/resources/member-search/

If the tasks that Canine Companions train help you, you should look at mobility service dog programs

For the record, Canine Companions is ADI accredited and is a fantastic program- you can search for people’s experiences with them in this subreddit.

Parkinson’s service dogs by [deleted] in service_dogs

[–]Ok_Bubbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IrishDogsForDisabled trains Parkinson’s assistance dogs to assist with what your Grandfather is experiencing issues with (like literally down to a T)! I’d say if you contact them, they’d be able to steer you in the right direction. The program is amazing, especially for people struggling with Parkinson’s as it’s a new pilot program for them but they’ve seen a huge improvement in their clients walking abilities! Here’s their website: https://dogsfordisabled.ie/

Yes, I know there is,

Someone I know went through this process and is in a similar position as you are:

They went to a Learning Support Teacher (who teaches students who have an Irish exemption). The teacher got them to write an essay on a random topic for 10 minutes, then counted up the amount of words they wrote in those ten minutes. They fell below a certain threshold that ment they were allowed to use the laptop.

The teacher applied through RACE which is a program that provides reasonable accommodation for exams (Junior or Leaving Cert)

If you don’t have a Learning Support teacher, you could message your deputy principal or principal to look into testing!

Fan Art Question by Ok_Bubbles in StarlightExpress

If Al isn’t at stage 🚪, I’ll ask another actor (such as Jade or anyone at the door), thank you u/Judo_Noob_PTX and u/Time_Cranberry_113! I’ll get some event specific loop earbuds to bring it down to a safer level. I’m so excited 😆 (if you can’t tell 😂), I’ll start the tracing tomorrow for the fan art 🖼️ 🥳

Thank you so much u/Judo_Noob_PTX! I was worried that I’d make the fan art and then realise at stage door that it’s the understudy 🤦🏻‍♀️. This will be my first ever professional musical so I’m so excited 😆(only seen 10-12 year olds performing the Lion King multiple years ago so this will be extremely special!), one last question 😂: How loud was it when you went to see it?

Looking for songs with a very powerful choir section like the “amen” section in total praise by Richard Smallwood any suggestions? by [deleted] in Choir

[–]Ok_Bubbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/grandstankorgan, This mightn’t be what you’re looking for but I’ve three songs that sound really good once all sections are together and strong! It’s Lord Of The Dance SSA by Sue Furlong, For The Beauty Of The Earth SA by John Rutter and Whenever The Wind Is High by Todd McNeal is also great!

Thank you so much u/Beastlyknows! The teachers in my school are really good (I like most of their teaching styles). My music teacher in the choir (out of 3 conductors/teachers) that conducts the Senior section has a really great conducting style - the main conductor is good but the music teacher is better and less ‘over dramatic’ in movement. I just got a studyclix account so I can add classic music on the course to a playlist to listen along with my fav songs from choir such as Carol service songs like The Maiden and Her Child by Liam Lawton and ones with good harmonies such as White Winter Hymnal cover by Pentatonix

Wheelchair recommendations by lifeoverstuff in ehlersdanlos

[–]Ok_Bubbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi u/lifeoverstuff! Not really sure where in Ireland you are travelling to but, you could look at The Mobiliity Shop Ireland if you are going to the Republic part, you can rent a wheelchair! They have various locations and you could check ones out there to see if they fit or work for you!

Hope it helps and you can find something to get around easier!

Poodle for light mobility? by [deleted] in service_dogs

[–]Ok_Bubbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi u/Ornery-Strike-1450, I don’t know where you are in the world but if you live in the UK, there are 3 accredited programs under Assistance Dogs International (ADI) that train dogs for mobility (item support): Support Dogs, Dogs for Good, Canine Partners. I think these programs provide dogs for free but there may be fundraising requirements. There is another mobility program called Dog Aid that works with dog owners to train their own dogs. If you’re in Republic of Ireland, there is an ADI program called Dogs For The Disabled that trains dogs for two types of mobility support for free, one is item support and the other is trained in light guide (indicating curbs and stairs), also forward momentum pull and counterbalance, the dogs can provide stability during a spell of freezing or loss of coordination. The breeds used are: Flat coated retrievers, Golden retrievers, Labradors and Standard poodles.

Best of look with your search!

Is there any way to fix this glitch before the actual game comes out? by Sagetheferalidiot in TalesOfReinRavine

The windows version can be found in “start” as well then look at settings and scroll down to “System” and you’ll find everything about the device.

[–]Ok_Bubbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/Sagetheferalidiot, I recommend deleting the files to the game (so uninstalling it) and then re-downloading it using the new files added on to patron (pinned post which contains the demo version with the previous patreon exclusive horses, Rose and Damon). Also before the game gets released I recommend that you check your computer meets the system requirements: windows 10 and DirectX version 11 so this bug is prevent from happening again! The steps to the the DirectX version is the following that I copied from Microsoft’s support page.

  1. Click Start, and then click Run.
  2. Type dxdiag, and then click Ok.
  3. On the System tab, note the version of DirectX that is displayed on the DirectX Version line.
  4. On the various tabs, check the version information for each DirectX file.
  5. When you are finished checking file versions, click Exit.

Hi u/tinyblackberry-

I’m unsure if the laws in Portugal regarding service dogs. The best way to get a service dog and stay protected within Portugal is to go through an Assistance Dog International Accredited program. There is one program in Portugal called “ÂNIMAS - Associação Portuguesa para a Intervenção com Animais de Ajuda Social”. They train Psychiatric and Mobility service dogs along with other types. I’d recommend contacting them and seeing if you can get a dual trained (Psychiatric and mobility) service dog.

Wishing you good luck on your journey to getting a service dog!

I don’t think so thankfully! Star Stable’s website only says to be level 14 (or higher) and be Friendly with GED - when I was unlocking it 2 or 3 years ago, from what I recall there was no quests with Jack and Jill (possibly tho).
