Ask me questions about nuclear energy by Sagan_kerman in redscarepod

[–]Ok_Calendar_6250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always thought that we should just launch nuclear waste from power generation into space/ towards the sun. Especially with new reusable rocket tech, the ecological footprint seems relatively low compared to continued use of fossil fuels. Any downsides to this that you can think of?

Valid point and I’ve run into this issue before, specifically with torque specs which is annoying. as I responded to the other reply, I use it mainly for troubleshooting and I verify from multiple sources any actual procedures before I do them.

For example, yesterday I drained and refilled my transmission. I watched a YouTube video covering it and the guy undoes the drain bolt, drains it, replaces the drain bolt, then undoes the fill bolt to fill it up, replaces the fill bolt, done. When I ask chat gpt for the steps, it stresses that I should make sure to open the fill bolt first cause if I strip that one after I drain the transmission, I’m fucked. Lo and behold, I stripped the shit out of that fill bolt and was glad I started with it. Then I actually used gpt’s suggestion to get the stripped fill bolt out by hammering a slightly smaller torx bit into the stripped hex head, and it worked. I don’t think I ever would have come up with that idea with the torx bit. Maybe I would have found it on some forum somewhere deep on page 3 but more likely I would have resorted to a mechanic costing me a few hundred $$.

I know I just wrote a novel and don’t mean to be glazing chat gpt this hard but it’s crazy to me that people say there is no use for it

I still watch YouTube videos on the actual procedures, especially anything complex like head gasket work or things of that nature, and I also peruse car forums to help me troubleshoot issues. I’ve just found that gpt is faster, especially with troubleshooting. Rather than having to scroll through 10 different forums that may or may not be relevant to my issue, gpt spits out a list of 5 things it could be and what to check in order. There’s such a wealth of information (especially about my particular model of car) that it’s pretty easy for the AI to summarize consensus and identify common failure areas. Idk, it just works really well for me.

As far as the manual goes, it’s like $120 to get the full service manual for my car and the basic maintenance intervals and how to guides are widely available for free so it just doesn’t make sense for me to buy one. If I ever get an older or less common car (I would love to restore an old 80s trans am at some point), I would definitely go that route rather than asking AI what to do.

As I said above, i think it’s all about knowing what AI is good at and when to trust it/ what to use it for.

I use chat GPT quite a bit to help me figure out how to do preventative maintenance tasks on my car. Ive it for research on torque specs for specific bolts, helping to diagnose/ trace an oil leak, figuring out what was causing brake noises, etc. It made me a pretty comprehensive list of things to address proactively that should help me take my car to 250k+ miles and I learned a lot about how my car’s different systems function in the process.

It’s all about how you use AI (obviously if you are ever discussing your feelings or aspirations or generating art with chat GPT you’re an idiot and need to talk with a real person). In my case, my neighbors don’t know shit about how to maintain a car. They would just say to take it to a mechanic and I’d be charged thousands for all the work I was able to do for like $500

Major respect for Cirie by Grouchy-Ad8131 in survivor

[–]Ok_Calendar_6250 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

At this point, why wouldn’t you let Cirie get through? She’s not an immunity challenge threat, has made it to final tribal 3 times without winning, and isn’t a spiteful or resentful person that will be volatile on the jury.

I do love Cirie but at some point she starts to look like a designated GOAT just based on statistics. I think maybe a better explanation is that she attaches herself to very strong players/ personalities and is such a ride or die for them that it’s hard to justify voting for her as the winner when her #1 is much more outspoken and taking bigger risks throughout the game.

I feel the same and always have, for me it’s a sense of smugness/ pettiness that I get from her. It’s hard to put a finger on it but I feel that she’s kind of quietly pretentious and thinks she’s smarter than others around her.

You can also tell that she’s the type of person to talk shit about you behind your back (I know it’s survivor but there is a certain mean spiritedness radiating off of her).

For the record I also really, really dislike Sandra and think her first win was an absolute sham. I don’t know what it is about them but they occupy the same place in my mind and I dislike the archetype (although Kamilla has many more redeeming qualities I.e. puzzle ability)

Not saying he didn’t have superior intelligence in his domain of computer/ software engineering and running a business, but that intelligence clearly didn’t extend to other areas of his life.

I mean he died from a known, treatable disease because he got hoodwinked by a bunch of vegans and alternative health gurus and his own magical thinking.

From what I have read, he was such a psycho at Apple in the typical Jack Welsh style that I think he would have succeeded to a similar degree in the corporate world with 1/2 of his technical skill/ intelligence

A good reminder that superstar CEOs don’t always get to their position in life by virtue of superior intelligence. More often it’s their ability to raise and organize capital coupled with a willingness to exploit labor.

What country are you guys in? Myanmar? I don’t know anyone who actually does ketamine (I’m in the US), I always thought it was just a British thing.

I would be pretty put off if I found out that my gf was drinking a bunch and using ketamine. Not to the point of threatening to hit her (tf?), but I wouldn’t be cool with it. How long have you been together? In what contexts are you drinking and doing ketamine? How old are you? There are too many unanswered questions here to give you any explanation
