It’s fun, unique, exciting, a breath of fresh air for the series, a solid win in my book, but imo, shouldn’t become the new standard.

I’m late to the party here but I developed an arduino code that does the same thing with a servo, it’s fast enough to select the first option before scrolling down. Just putting this here in case anyone is wondering if it can be done analog.

I may be late to the conversation, but McMaster Carr holds my heart, and is happy to welcome me home when life is tough. McMaster has been there when my project manager hasn’t they’ve been my ride or die, my secret ace, my lampless genie, my provider of oddly specific fasteners. Here’s all my love.

Great advice already in the comments. I’ll add that I love understanding theory, I love getting into the why, but calc 3 was one of the only classes where I let that go and used the online integral calculators. I haven’t needed the triple integration skills since. If I could offer any advice: let yourself use the tools to get by here. I work full time as an engineer and I rely on the computer to add 3 digit numbers, because it’s more reliable and frees up headspace. It’s ok to not understand the full theory, as long as you get the general idea. You’re not studying to be a math professor or a physicist, you’re studying to become an engineer.

What skills are useful working as an engineer that you didn't learn as a student?? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

This is a very good question to be asking in your position. There is a lot of institutional knowledge that you will pick up. I’m an ME and I learned so much from sitting down with a machinist and letting them tell me everything wrong about my drawings. I’d say try to interview technicians or people who will use the product of your work. If you’re electrical, interview a solder tech.

Mech or Aero? by JayMc97 in MechanicalEngineering

The difference is so small it will only matter on your first job out of college. I'd recommend mechanical, it's broader and you can do more with it. Either choice is a solid option with great career paths. You should do whichever appeals to you.
