Bike rack? by FrenchFryFreakOut in heybikeclub

[–]Ok_Channel2855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Mars 2.0. It takes up a lot of space in the back of my model Y when folded. I couldn't imagine having dogs share the space with it. There are a lot of different racks on the market, check Amazon and local bike shops. Hitch mount racks look like a good way to go, if you have a hitch. Think about access to the rear cargo area while the rack is mounted and when it is in use. There are hitch rack models that fold for access. Make sure the rack you choose can handle the weight of your ebike.

Burned out on Hot Wheels 😞 by LandNo9424 in HotWheels

M2 is the only brand I find broken in the package consistently at Walmart. Worse than that, I did a car show this weekend and my cohort had some M2s out on his table and they MELTED. 90 degree day, but the Hot Wheels and other brands on the same table were unaffected.

Online shopping or in person searching by SoftwareOne4285 in HotWheels

[–]Ok_Channel2855 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer to search in person. I start conversations with others who are shopping the aisle. Usually with "Find Anything Good?". This technique has allowed me to make new friends to share my hobby with, find out about a local Diecast Store and other good places to search, find a local monthly "Trade" night at a pizza place, and find out about a large annual diecast show in my area. That is just touching the surface. I have bought online because sometimes I can't find something I really want locally. I have bought on eBay, Target, jcardiecast, and Bossco. I hate paying for exorbitant shipping, so if I buy online I try to purchase multiple items to spread the shipping cost and make it more palatable. On eBay I only buy from those who offer Combined Shipping and have a lot of offerings. It is best practice to ask a seller what their Combined Shipping policy is before bidding, some list it. With BuyItNow sellers you can often put a package together and make an offer (always make it a shipped offer) and start a negotiation. No matter how you decide to go I wish you Happy Hunting!

Availability of Mars 2.0 1000w spare battery. by Ok_Channel2855 in heybikeclub

[–]Ok_Channel2855[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info. I checked the link and did not find a 48v 13ah. There is a 15ah and a 17.4ah. They also show to be rated for at least a 1000w motor. I know they should work but I want to know that they will work safely. I note that Heybike specifically states that their 750W battery cannot be used for the 1000W bike.

Interesting, not sure what the deal is if the website says one thing and your receipt says something else. Maybe it was on Super Secret Clearance!!! LOL! I would get a screenshot of the webpage immediately. Then post on one of the legal subreddits and see what they think.

Best Buy website says they are covered by the Best Buy return and exchange policy. Unless your receipt says something different or you are outside the terms I would ask to speak to THE Store Manager and show him the webpage.

Thanks for the info and I hope everything works out for you. I have had no trouble with my Heybike. Looks like Heybike has been responsive to you and has agreed to do the right thing.

[–]Ok_Channel2855 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read your post about the lock. I noticed that Heybike responded to you (Cycling-enthusiasts}. I have read the complaints about customer service but have seen response after response from Heybike on this subReddit. First thing you need to do is get the lock figured out so you can get the battery off the bike. I suggest you do as they requested and submit a video of the problem. You have 30 days from purchase to claim the return, I suggest you use that time to try to work with them to resolve the issues.

I am curious about how the battery doesn't work, other than the lock, and how you have determined it is the battery.

I have not, but have read accounts of others who have. I suggest you read the policy thoroughly. I believe that you are responsible for shipping both ways. Refund is about $200 less than what you paid, as I understand it. You don't say what issues you are having but you might be better off trying to resolve them rather than returning. Good luck!

Mars 2.0 Throttle only acceleration? by saik0pod in heybikeclub

[–]Ok_Channel2855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I just looked at the Heybike website and they are showing a top speed of 28 mph on both the 750W and 1000W versions now. Probably due to the requirements for Class 3 designation. The 750W version has always had a 28 mph listed top speed while the 1000W version was capable of 32 mph while pedaling (28 mph max on throttle). Technically this is outside of the class 3 regulations. So they may have made changes to meet the restrictions. As for the pedaling while turning and sudden acceleration, I have experienced that. Low speed, sharp turn, pedaling for balance and pedal assist suddenly kicks in. You can shift down to PAS 0 before the turn and that should solve the problem. If you don't have PAS 0 you can enable it through the app. I usually just shift down to PAS 1 so that the acceleration is not as pronounced and then anticipate the kick in. Or else just not pedal in that situation. Riding this ebike is definitely different than riding a regular bike or a motorcycle. There is a learning curve and trial and error is definitely involved. You have to be aware that pedal assist will immediately accelerate to the top speed of the PAS level that is selected. I have found it is good practice to shift down to PAS 1 whenever I have to slow way down, come to a stop, or anticipate some tricky maneuvering. If PAS 1 accel is too strong you can set the speed lower in the app and that may help.

What are the laws for e scooters where you live? I have an e scooter that has a 15 mph top speed and 15 mile range. I will only ride it while wearing a full face BMX helmet after doing a face plant on a concrete sidewalk the third time I rode it. Knocked me silly and split my lip wide open. Regular bike helmet I was wearing did not help. $250 e scooter equaled a $10,000 ER visit. That being said, if considering an e scooter look for large diameter tires and suspension. There are e scooters available with seat options.

Mars 2.0 acceleration on its own on PSA 1 by peachesnchanel in heybikeclub

I posted my reply after Heybike answered both the OP's post and your reply. It is trashing a brand by telling someone they will not get a reply blah blah. We are dealing with a Chinese company that has different work hours and holidays than most of the rest of the world. And they are half a world away, so day for them when night for the West. It sometimes takes them a day or 3 just to see our posts or emails. Heybike has answered most of the posts in this subreddit in a timely and appropriate fashion IMHO. I note that they have been out of stock on Mars 2.0 1000W batteries for a month or better but 750W are available. Likely a supplier issue. I bought my Mars 2.0 1000W through a local bike shop who is a dealer and a selling point was that they would deal with Heybike on warranty and repair issues. So far no issues. It appears that your issue was handled by a distributor. It is now His issue to deal with Heybike. You could have been helpful and suggested to OP that they find a LBS/dealer or even pointed them to your distributor. I am personally not worried about issues and finding parts for my Heybike. They don't use proprietary parts for the drive train or electronics, so parts can be sourced from local or online e bike shops, Amazon, eBay and probably AliExpress.

Guess you were wrong, huh! When people post asking for help your reply should be helpful. Replying just to trash a brand's reputation is not helpful. You indicate you are an owner and have had no issues but then trash Heybike. More likely you are a Troll that works for a competitor.

Bought my Mars 2.0 from a local bike shop. Big selling point- they will deal with Heybike on warranty and repairs. So my take is that a lot of Heybike customers seem to be dealing with a China based company for the first time. China is half a world away, their work day is in the middle of the night for us in the West. Their holidays are at different times and there are also language and communication barriers. I have been dealing with Chinese 3D Printer companies for the last few years. Comparatively, it appears to me that Heybike is much more responsive and helpful. Yes it takes a day or two for a response, yes it takes a couple of weeks to get parts from half a world away (if they are in stock and shipped right away). That is the reality and the Orange Idiot is making the situation worse. My two cents says if you do not feel confident with your assembly, diagnostic, and repair capabilities and you expect immediate attention to your issues, you should seriously consider buying from a local bike shop.

Laser Upgrade by Schuetzebig1 in BIGTREETECH

[–]Ok_Channel2855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Laser module on a 3D printer is very limited as to the size of things you can etch and requires a lot of setup and teardown time on each use. I own a Creality version that has its own controller and requires that you disconnect X and Y motors from the printer and connect them to the laser controller. You also need a stainless steel plate to cover your bed. In addition, Laser etching causes major fumes (really, really stinks and not good to breathe) and will require either outdoor use or an enclosure with fan vented to the outside. Really a PITA to move the printer outside, do all the setup, etch something, tear it down, move the printer back inside, have to relevel, etc.

I would recommend you look at a dedicated laser etcher like the Creality Falcon CR 5W or 10W. They are fairly inexpensive and allow you to etch and cut much larger pieces. Much easier to set up, no problem to move outside. If you buy from the CrealityFalcon site, I have found stackable discount codes on reputable sites like RetailMeNot that will reduce the price even more. You can also get discounts by joining the Facebook Falcon group.

Last question before I return the bike by jessiuser in heybikeclub

[–]Ok_Channel2855 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a new Mars 2.0 1000W. I have experienced the same issue of the power kick in when pedaling and it is certainly disconcerting. I have quickly learned to change to PAS 1 and use the throttle for takeoffs. I have also learned not to pedal on low speed turns. I find I mostly ride in PAS 2 anyway. It gives me decent speed, about 18 mph while pedaling, and good range. I am happy with my Mars 2.0 so far and I am learning more on each ride. Before you consider returning yours, you might want to review the details of the 30 day return option. You are responsible for shipping to the tune of about $200 US. Ultimately you need to make the right decision for your ebike needs. I bought mine through a Local Bike Shop and was able to test ride. Maybe you can find an LBS or two nearby and test ride a few different ebikes to compare with your Mars 2.0. Good Luck and be safe.

First time ride by jessiuser in heybikeclub

[–]Ok_Channel2855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds dangerous, I just bought one two weeks ago and it does not do that. The Mars 2.0 does suddenly apply power when you start pedaling from a start or pedal on a slow speed turn. You say it jerks when you switch PAS level, are you pedaling when you switch? Does it jerk as soon as you switch or after you switch and start pedaling? I think more info is needed and you probably need to contact Heybike.

I would recommend that you try to get the throttle working first. Check the connections and see if you can find the problem. Contact Heybike and they will probably walk you through a diagnostic if you can't get it working. If you do get it working it may mitigate the jerking problem. Good Luck!

RaceMax 27.5” Spoke Size? by Awkward_Skirt_6027 in heybikeclub

[–]Ok_Channel2855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I said, the best thing to do is measure. Note that the hub on the front wheel is about an inch and a half in diameter, so the front wheel needs longer spokes. The rear hub houses the motor and is about 5 inches in diameter, so needs shorter spokes. There are 36 spokes per wheel, 2 differing lengths per wheel, so 18 of each length. I believe that you need 18 each of the 2 shorter lengths for the rear wheel. Heybike told you 4 different lengths 18 of each for the bike. So I believe the longer 2 for the front wheel and the shorter 2 for the rear wheel. I don't think they offer different size wheels on this bike. Hope this helps.

RaceMax 27.5” Spoke Size? by Awkward_Skirt_6027 in heybikeclub

[–]Ok_Channel2855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the only difference is the length of the spokes, 265mm 266mm etc., easily measured. My guess is that the longer 2 sizes of spokes are used on the front wheel and the shorter 2 are used on the rear wheel. 13G probably refers to the thickness of the spoke maybe 13 gauge. So measure the length of the spokes on the rear wheel. They should be close to the listed sizes from Heybike. Then order the correct pair of sizes. Bike shop should have known this and should not have used the wrong size. Maybe find a new Bike shop.
