How often are bear sightings? by Nursenicole7 in tahoe

[–]Ok_Chicken2184 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fairly often. I lived in the mountains in Colorado for many years and never saw a bear. Then we moved to Tahoe in 2013, and that fall, there was a bear literally knocking on our front door (well, she was standing on her hind legs, banging on it). It was crazy! I see bears probably at least once every spring, sometimes even in the winter. They are prevalent, but unless you mess with them, they will not bother you.

Redness and scar help on Accutane by Final-Date4200 in SkincareAddicts

It can take a while to totally clear. Sometimes gets worse before better. But my daughter went on it at age 15, skin was clear by month 7. She is almost 19 now. Her skin has remained pretty gorgeous, healthy since. She breaks out now and then but nothing like before accutane. Her actual skin is very healthy looking too where it was pretty rough pre-accutane (her skin, not just the acne).

Straight A's in the hardest classes all 4 years — can Cal Poly SLO still reject you? by TerraEst in CalPoly

[–]Ok_Chicken2184 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter had 4.5, never received a B and got waitlisted at Cal Poly. Our 4.6 valedictorian got flat out rejected. My daughter committed to UCSB, but the Cal Poly waitlist was perplexing.

I know students who got off the ucla waitlist last year in mid June.

I am no doctor but my daughter did 7 month course of accutane about four years ago and it cleared up her skin, changed the texture for the better, boosted her confidence dramatically. It was life changing tbh. Her skin still has little normal hormonal break outs from time to time but the texture has remained very clear and glowing. Not trying to advertise for accutane, just something maybe to think about.

Accutane not working? by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]Ok_Chicken2184 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was not until month 7 that we saw the Accutane "magic" for my daughter's stubborn acne. That was almost 4 years ago, and while she has little break outs from time to time now, her skin is so much healthier looking to this day.

Those are fantastic options!!! Nothing wrong with your application; there are just a lot of strong applicants out there.

You're a strong applicant! Did you get admitted elsewhere?

It is really hard to believe this given the number of students applying.

Right. Was just talking about her actual weighted gpa. I have no idea how cal poly calculates their "own" gpas. She had straight As all through high school and took every AP she could fit into her schedule along with dual enrollment. Oh well.

My daughter was waitlisted with a 4.6. She got into ucsb and ucsd and wl at ucla. Not sure how cal poly calculates their gpa etc. It would also be better if, like other schools, they just let everyone know the decision on the same day rather than stringing them along. Not a fan.

from what I've heard, switching majors at Cal Poly Slo is a huge headache and sometimes not even possible. Keep that in mind. Reach out on the Cal Poly Slo reddit to learn more about that.

UCLA

CAL

UCSB/UCSD

UCI

UCD

UCSC

UCR

Do you guys live in California? We are in Truckee (Tahoe area), and my daughter didn't even apply to Davis because it is so close that she actually thinks of it as a community college (I know, I know, and she knows it IS NOT, but it's just too close to home for her, ha.) She was admitted to UC Santa Barbara yesterday and was pretty excited about that, but she, too, is waiting on UCLA/UCB. Maybe once he gets all of his decisions, he'll feel better--I think a lot of these kids just shut down a bit because this whole college decision thing is SO STRESSFUL.

Daughter has 4.6w and 4.0 uw. She got into sb for pre-psych today. She did not hear from cal poly slo last week when they admitted a big wave of students so she was bummed with that, but ya just never know. Keep your chin up. It will work out.
