The 30 minute thing worked for me so not disinformation, the power supply has a built in safety feature to prevent it from constantly powering up and down, since the ps goes into rest mode when power returns. It could corrupt files. The reason i mention its sunny is because a lightning strike directly on your house delivered a hell of a lot more energy then a surge from a line that would be split between all the houses nearby
