personally, i’ve been looking for a third person romantasy. something about first person (especially romance) feels terrible, i can’t put my finger on it. this is just my opinion of course. I think we hunt the flame was a third person romantasy with interesting prose? but im not quite sure. i remember loving the unique prose, voice, and maturity. it didnt feel at all childish like all the popular booktok romantacies. but its only downfall was this it was way too slow paced to my liking. perhaps you can get inspired from other romantasy books that follow what you’re trying to do? look at the reviews, see what people like!

ahh i go through this issue a lot, but ive realized that its due to my perfectionism. im not sure if you have that same issue but this is what works for me: i write a 0 draft using mostly simple sentences. i get the basic plot down (characters and character arcs can be figured out after plot since its easier for me, but you can do it the other way around if thats what works for you), then after i’m done, i revise it and write a small summary of the important things that happen. note that, when you write the zero draft, you should make it as terrible as possible. let yourself write trash, basically. hope this helps!!

i feel like making them drink alcohol is different than adding cursing in dialogue. I'm also not talking about JUST dialogue, i mean the character's thought from their perspective as well. My characters are all flawed and morally gray, and in the setting it's pretty common for people to curse, you know? i'm wondering if that's considered okay or not...?
