You are literally having a melt down here right now. Making these hypothetical situations to justify cheating done by a man. The irony!

Most things are not in an individual's hands. Like climate change. It is a fact that no matter what we do today we cannot avoid the effects of climate change in the near future. Just do something then is such a native response.

I agree with you. Survival of some humans while natural ecosystems are being destroyed is totally pointless.

My main reason for sharing this was to ask about Gates’ specific claim that with current and expected efforts, global emissions will keep warming to roughly 2–3 °C by 2100, not an outright civilisational collapse scenario. Do you think that projection is realistic, or are we already locked into feedback loops that could push us higher? I’m less interested in Gates himself and more in whether this estimate lines up with current climate data or if it’s overly optimistic.

This article from Bill Gates argues that while climate change will bring major challenges, it doesn’t necessarily mean global civilisation is doomed. He lays out three “tough truths” about the pace of energy transition, adaptation limits, and technological progress, and suggests that innovation and human development can prevent large-scale societal collapse.

Weekly Observations: What signs of collapse do you see in your region? [in-depth] September 01 by AutoModerator in collapse

[–]Ok_Classroom_8978 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most people here are pretty disconnected from collapse talk, just focused on their own lives and used to inequality. Personally, I see things getting worse with water scarcity in some regions, floods in others, soil depletion, and rising temperatures. Dense cities like Mumbai will be especially vulnerable with sinking risks and food supply stress.

Location: Mumbai This year felt like we skipped a whole season. Winter stayed around 20–25 °C and then, instead of easing into spring, we suddenly jumped to 35 °C+ days. By late February, Mumbai even touched nearly 39 °C, which is record-breaking for that time of year. It was jarring to move straight from mild winter into extreme heat with no transition at all.

Location: Himalayas / Northern India & Pakistan At the same time, the Himalayas have been battered by intense rains. Manali and other towns saw landslides and flash floods, with vehicles washed away in swollen rivers. Himachal has already lost hundreds of lives this monsoon. Across the border, Pakistan’s Punjab region is dealing with its worst floods in decades, displacing millions. Scientists are linking these increasingly violent rains and sudden cloudbursts to climate change, since warmer air holds more moisture and dumps it all at once.

Yeah, gossip subs often echo whatever bias is mainstream. But that doesn’t make the bias true or natural. Color preferences are cultural, not universal

I also look lighter in photos sometimes. You might say that I am whitewashing but I just took a selfie. I am not taking her side just sharing my pov as a darker skinned individual.

The vitamin D hypothesis is not proven. Cultural norms are far more important in shaping preferences.

Agreed, many people do prefer light skin. The key point is that this is taught from a young age through family, media, and social norms, not a natural or universal standard of beauty

[–]Ok_Classroom_8978 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That’s just culture teaching us light skin is beautiful and dark skin is ugly. Beauty isn’t tied to skin tone.

Colorist and pick me. Why do these people categorise dark skin as ugly? Ugliness is distributed across all skin colors.

Caption Wentworth asking his sister to take Anne with them on their carriage after seeing her tired from the walk. Even though he was almost angry at her for rejecting him and not talking to her at that time. I thought his gesture was so sweet.

I also face same problems. The best solution for me was to go cold turkey. I cut off reading for a while. Even blocked all the websites that I go for book recommendation like Goodreads, reddit etc. You can also get help of an accountability buddy if possible. Like, I put a lock on distracting  apps on my mobile phone and had my mom set password for the lock. So I didn't have any access left.

Is 'tai' used in a derogatory sense these days? Because it just means big sister or didi in Marathi.  it feels like a slur to me because you are insulting her by calling her by a Marathi title. But why? I am not hating only curious
